So Nicola (prehistoric fish) Sturgeon will not rest until the scottish get another referendum on breaking away from the away from the rest of the UK. Apparently they don't want to wait until Brexit is completed. Many English people are completely bored with this now - if they want "Home Rule" - then let them, can't they get it into their heads we are really not that interested - but we need to erect a 30 foot electric fence across the border to keep them in (machine gun towers like the Berlin Wall could be a consideration as well in addition to passport control). (No economic support either (THIS IS THE IMPORTANT BIT) - which is what they would obviously want as part of any breakaway deal as we English have "plundered and pillaged" their resources since the 13th Century).Obviously I am making these remarks "tongue-in-cheek"...... but on a slightly more serious level, have the Scots considered all the consequences of independence. For example, if they had to apply to rejoin the EU, they would have no choice to adopt the Euro as this is in the"Rules". I wonder how this would impact upon "Angus" with his life savings stashed in fivers under the floor of his croft. Just interested to hear what other views ABers have on this

Paddy, 'the Scots' have already given their answer.
We're fine as we are thanks but our dear leader refuses to accept the democratic vote of her subjects.
She may soon find herself sniping from the cheap seats if she doesn't take stuff on board and get on with what she should be doing, running the country. Her imagined mandate could well be her downfall.
As far as Angus and his croft goes, more likely to be Gerald and Samantha o'erlooking their wee bit hill and glen having come north to find themselves.
Paddy, may I suggest you send this post to you're local mp and Mrs. May.would you like a vote ,are you Scottish living in Scotland, if yes, I know a man !!!!!!!!!
she doesn't want independence she wants different dependence.
Whether the Scots like it or not.
we Scots are just as fed up of dear Nicola's constant childlike demands..SHE wants it the majority of Scots do NOT.... it's all personal ego and glory seeking.....hellooooo Whiskeyron xx
Hellooooo Minty. Please get rid of this wee wild Haggis basher ASAP.
"The vote has absolutely nothing to do with you..."

I beg to differ, maggie. As has been demonstrated by Mrs May, the issue of Scottish Independence is a matter for the United Kingdom, not just for Scotland. Constitutional matters, as I'm sure you know, are reserved for the Westminster Parliament.
Could ye no put somethin live up her kilt ?
lol Ron..she is a right pain in the behookie..but May will not take any of her nonsense.... summit live up her kilt might put a smile on her twisted wee ferret face ! lol
Nicola S is the head of a party who had one aim - Scottish Independence. We are all just going to see what transpires.

As for the Scots - this might cover it

Nice cows Susan .
Anne - they are aren't they - that's because they are Scottish.
//And, for the time being, the UK is a member of the EU. We don't use the Euro either. Did you not spot that? //

no we don't. the UK and Denmark secured opt-outs under articles 130 and 131 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU. the other states you mentioned (except Sweden) are obliged to join the currency union when they meet the convergence criteria (which they still have to do). Sweden is also obliged to join eventually but they took the view that membership of ERM2 was voluntary and while this state persists they too don't meet the convergence criteria. an independedt Scotland, if/when approved for membership of the EU (which Spain and Belgium would vehemently oppose) would be required to adopt the Euro upon meeting the convergence criteria; if an independent Scotland is as capable of fiscal solvency as the cybernats claim, that would be almost immediately.
TBF they can adopt the flanian Fobble bead if they like but they'll have no control over it.
Lots of us have Scottish bloood in us. My wife has Scottish ancestry. I think I've got distant relatives who hailed from Scotland.
intrigued to see so many basing their opinions on whether they like Sturgeon's looks.
I know jno, her surname appears to be " amusing " ? I'm assuming everyone is England in called Smith .
“Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Sweden are all members of the EU - none of them uses the Euro.

And, for the time being, the UK is a member of the EU. We don't use the Euro either. Did you not spot that?”

Yes, as mushroom has very fully explained, murdo, staggering levels of ignorance are not confined to any particular sections of the community.
Not all English people are called Smith but some of us are.

It is a grand name lol
