Some people need attention, lots of it. They think at the time that any attention is better than no attention ( why they feel this way can be for a variety of reasons), so they sometimes do things to please other people which nurtures their need for attention. She made a sex tape with several men, doubtless because she enjoyed the attention and wanted to be the...

Odd story.
she was 31. People sometimes do silly things and regret it, but that's never required the existence of social media.
It's not a lesson 'for us all' surely? Just those who choose (note that word) to make a record of their most private moments permenant. I have tremendous sympathy with the circumstances but not her naivety.
It's a tragic story and a very sad outcome.
People have always been cruel, sadly we'll never change that.
Education for the younger generation is important.

yes jno we've all done silly things but now with the power of social media a kraken is released that cannot one cannot ever get back. Making a prat of yourself in front of a few friends can, with social media, escalate like it did for this vulnerable young woman. I think it serves as an example of how powerful these apps are.
Vulnerable young woman? She was 31!
Yes, it is a tragic story, and hopefully can be used as a lesson for others. Not only for those people who deliberately or inadvertently share private images or video of themselves, but also for those "friends" who go on to share it further.
// It's not a lesson 'for us all' surely?//

the lesson for me is that if I have sex with five unknown men I should not send the video onto various frenz
righto ! got it ( pun of course not intended) [ end of]
( the bell end of - no! no! )
How does one 'inadvertently' share pics or videos of ones self?

ZM: Age is not and indicator of common sense, neither does it confer mental stability. I'm trying to have a sensible debate here, not sure why you are trolling it.
Don't think ZM could be described as trolling. He's making valid points, that I thought of but didn't like to say.
Ah so anyone who doesn't go 'oh dear shame shame' is a troll? You called her a young woman. She's not. Coming up,with some BS excuse of mental age is just a cop out cos you realise you've gone down a bit of a silly avenue with this.

well I tried to demonstrate my sensitive side. Carry on.....
If you don't know, ZM, then perhaps you are doing it too ...

Imagine the poor celeb who is shooting a nude scene the next day. They think they have a spot on their backside but they can't get a good view in the hotel's bathroom mirror. They take a close up photo using their iPhone. Next thing they know, their backside is all over the internet ... because their iPhone automatically published ("backed up") their photo to their iCloud account, which had been hacked.

With your "friends", it doesn't have to be hacked. You can share iCloud access with who you like ...

... and, months later, forget that you've done so when taking your own intimate photos and videos, for whatever reason.
It's a strange mind that does what she did.
LOL. Celebrities taking pics of their bum. Haaaaa! I'm not sure you know how 'cloud' storage works but it gave me a laugh.
Didn't you read my whole post?
Yeah, right down to the bit where you put 'You can share iCloud access with who you like ... '

Which kinda proved my point. If your daft enough to share to anywhere on the internet, it's not 'inadvertent'.
Young people do need educating against the dangers but that has been the case for many years, drugs, sex etc but the fundamental problem is that at young people think they're invincible and their teachers, parents are fuddy duddies. By the time they learn the lesson it's often too late.
"When I was 16, I thought my parents knew nothing. When I was 21, I was shocked to discover how much they had picked up in the last 5 years."
Author: Winston Churchill
Not that many young people (teenagers) need educating. They know already.
