Let us hope that from this excellent CCTV footage, this killer can soon be apprehended.

All knives need to be sold with a ball-shaped cover that cannot be removed until it comes into range of it's dedicated unlocking device in the kitchen at home.
I'm still working on what to do once the ball has been removed for the first time and the owner decides not to replace it.
A fine perhaps for carrying an offensive weapon?
This lawmaking's hard work. :)
What I wrote and what others have said is perfectly civil.

In your OP, you intimated that we needed a new law, and its been explained to you that we already have an existing law on knife crime.

If you are being subject to ridicule, then perhaps that is because your OP was ill-thought out. Only you have the solution to that.
Lol...AOG - no one is being rude you delicate little flower...
theoretically it is a good idea but completely unworkable !
My daughter currently lives in London and my son is thinking about going to uni in London. Her advice, don't do it, getting from A to B is a nightmare, imagine adding in security checks!!

These attacks are few and far between.

/// AOG - all the millions of people that use public transport daily I don't think anything can be done. ///

Maybe you are correct ummmm, but don't you think that something should be done, perhaps it may not be possible on transport, seeing this is very rare, but knife crime is a problem that need addressing sooner than later.

Yet another knife killing yesterday in London.

No not "perhaps" you stated the following

/// AOG....this is yet another ill-thought post by you ! ///

You seemed very certain and was rude enough to state that it was yet another.
I think we've established that trying to stop people stabbing other people is impossible. there are too many variable.
The number of knife incidents in London compared to the number of people are very small. To be frank if you had bought those security ideas in whilst I was a commuter I would have been pretty annoyed as we already suffer enough from delays!

The laws that we currently have regarding knife crime are quite suffice perhaps the punishment needs to be tougher.
Tougher punishment means nothing to the mentally unbalanced.
Indeed Zacs they are already in prison.
All of them?
Apparently the police have now arrested someone.
It's all getting a bit Vic and Bob now.

/// Indeed Zacs they are already in prison. ///

No, if they are mentally unbalanced they belong in a high-security psychiatric hospital, which is much different to a prison.
One could argue that anyone who stabs someone with the intention of killing them is mentally unbalanced.
Perhaps Brentford Nylons could fashion Kevlar shirts for all commuters?
Simple, death penalty if it was unprovoked attack and the attacker has no regrets.
//..Brentford Nylons..//

Crikey there is a name from the past - are they still in business ?
Those that suffer from mental issues are already in a prison, a prison where there is very little chance of parole.
