The Ofsted report into educational standards in Swindon, exemplifies the Conservatives' ambivalence to state education in the rest of the country.
At every level, the children are being badly let down. Ofsted have written to the the towns two Conservative MPs, but nothing gets done.

this would be only the latest manifestation of parties and governments' - of all political leanings and persuasions - utter inability to leave education alone for longer than three nanoseconds and instead subject it to their politicized version of the latest gee-whizz educational theory spouted by some very expensively appointed consultant who purports to be an expert. this is not new, you can trace it right back to the Plowden Report, commissioned by the conservatives but implemented piecemeal by the labour government of Harold Wilson, and via virtually every change of government since.
The Tories started their fiddling with education, by bringing about schools that could employ unqualified people to teach.

They then hope to compound that error by bringing back Grammar Schools.

Swindon is a Tory Council, so we shouldn't be too surprised.
Yet for all that, A level passes go up most years.....or is that just to feed the educational monster that is the Universities?
Exams are a bad way to measure educational attainment anyway.
What alternative would you propose Jim?
PMSL. Didn't do you any harm!
Zacs...A level passes increasing is wonderful news.

But I am more concerned about the education of the majority, and Swindon doesn't seem to be getting that right at all.
Mikey, I don’t think that’s anything new. I know teachers who are unqualified to teach particular subjects who have been doing it for years. One, qualified only to teach primary school maths, actually teaches to A-level.
A level passes indicate the majority Mikey. Swindon is just one town.
Quite Naomi. What is 'qualified' in this context?

Just 1 school in Swindon is local authority run, 12 are Academies.
Is this proof that the Labour introduced Academies experiment, has well and truly failed?
With all schools it is down to the headmaster.

As with the NHS we need to move away from people trying to get political capitol from them and as Mushro says; leave them alone.

There is nothing wrong with unqualified teachers Mickey. I suspect you dislike them because they tend not to indoctrinate kids with left wing propaganda.

Many of my teachers were 'unqualified' except of course by their earlier careers they we perhaps over qualified. And I had a private education before you start.
'Many of my teachers were 'unqualified'' mmm.
Dont get your point ZM. Pleas explain.

Is it too late for your parents to ask for a refund?
Gromit, what is wrong with you? You're insulting people constantly lately? Are you quite well?
