UKIP are responsible for the Government holding a referendum which resulted in the 'Leave' vote. That will have a profound effect on the UK's future. I still think it will may well have the consequence of splitting Scotland from the rest of the UK. That in my opinion would be nothing short of a calamity.

ungovernable is probably right, though. Does anyone really want the job? The last one didn't.
Without Farage to control it it is dead

By all accounts they are a bunch of bruisers ...
doesn't matter who the leader is. The party has achieved it's aim and will disband soon anyway.
This is a continuing farce, or epic proportions.

To paraphrase Annie Hall...."a political Party is like a shark, it has to constantly move forward or it dies, and what we have here, is a dead shark"

RIP UKIP
There were strong suggestions that Wolfe was going to join the Tory Party immediately before that famous fracas in Brussels........indeed, it was said to be the root cause of the affair !
It would be interesting to note if there was a General Election now to see how the UKIP vote compares with 2015.

The party appear to be heading for a boom slump.
"The party has achieved it's aim and will disband soon anyway."

I tend to agree, but it went beyond that and gave the real working-class people a voice, damaged the political elite and smashed or divided the useless Labour party circus into two.
agchristie....well if UKIP got one more MP than they did in 2015, then that would be a 100% increase !
I don't understand mike why you are incapable of acknowledging that UKIP has no need to exist anymore. It's work is done. So your rather silly twee comments like RIP etc are pointless. I know you must be very unhappy at the implosion of Labour of late but do try and give credit where it's due occasionally.
is Nigel going to give up the Eurojob, then?
TTT.........I predicted, before the Referendum, that whatever the result, UKIP was effectively dead in the water. And I was right, as you have acknowledged.

But there are still people that think UKIP will change the mould (sic) of British politics, not least of all UKIP itself, hence all this continuing fiasco about electing a new Leader.

So, perhaps you should direct your remarks at one of the Parties supporters, here on AB.
He was being offered his own show on RT, but even that bird looks like it may have flown. ...
The Tory party under Theresa May seems to be heading down a more xenophobic path than UKIP ever did. There is simply no need for UKIP it has been eclipsed by the Tories.
Indeed so Eddie, tho I wonder how much of that is just a short term plot to split the party: revenge, if you like
Mikey; "TTT.........I predicted, before the Referendum, that whatever the result, UKIP was effectively dead in the water. And I was right, as you have acknowledged." - yes but you do not acknowledge why they are superfluous.

"But there are still people that think UKIP will change the mould (sic) of British politics, not least of all UKIP itself, hence all this continuing fiasco about electing a new Leader." - They forced a PM to conceded a referendum, got millions to support it from all sides and forced a PM change and will ensure we get out of the EU. I'd say the mould is smashed into a million pieces how do you interpret the complete sea change in British politics?

"So, perhaps you should direct your remarks at one of the Parties supporters, here on AB." - Nope I'm trying to make you understand what's happened.

I think Mikey is in denial.
Mikey is not in denial ! I wholeheartedly agree that UKIP is now no longer needed. But someone needs to tell UKIP that !
Whilst Brexit is still just a promise, one to be stalled, watered down, or maybe even abandoned in real terms, UKIP's aims are not all fulfilled and they still have a purpose acting as the voice of conscience cajoling and ensuring elected politicians stay honest to their promise.
But as they seem now to have been exposed as the violent, fractious rabble that they are, i suspect that they will soon cease to act as anyone's moral guardian or conscience :-)
but mikey do you not accept they have had the most effect on British politics in the last century with barely a presence in the commons.
