People are starting to question how Team GB are doing so well at the Olympics when, not long ago, we struggled to get even one Gold medal. Do you also have your doubts or do you think/believe "Brits don't cheat"?

" it is anti British to denigrate our successes because of some perceived invalidating factor. "

Not necessarily: it depends who's doing it. A lot of the criticism coming from the opposition is sour grapes, and some is probably based on lazy thinking.

To answer the question, I don't believe that any of GB & NI's medlas were achieved through cheating, and I will continue to believe that until proved otherwise, as with all teams, sadly with the exception of Russia where state sponsored cheating has been proved: and despite everything, has still got them to 4th place in the Medals Table. Disgraceful.
Jammy.....come to that, neither have I !
ichkeria...........if the International Olympic Committee had acted decisively, Russia wouldn't have featured on the medal table at al, let alone forth l !
That's what I meant, mikey
JTH, no idea who TGT is but anyway..."I am as patriotic as you are but don't view acknowledging deficiencies (in any field) as running the country down. " read my post at 10:27, I agree, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the traditional anti British approach of trying to find reasons why we did well, eg the opposition were unusually weak, we must have been on drugs, we got a lucky break from the officials, if the martians had turned up we'd not have done so well ...yada yada, we get it all the time, instead of celebrating success there is a contingent who try and find reasons why it's somehow invalid.
Yes, I can see that ichkeria !
Who are this 'contingent'?

I haven't noticed anyone denigrating our sporting achievements in Rio.
GB managed to select one contestant who had missed not one but three drugs tests, so other athletes' suspicions are not without foundation, even though they may be wrong.
"I haven't noticed anyone denigrating our sporting achievements in Rio. " did you read the OP?
Yes, but they are disgruntled 'foreigners' and so are, by definition likely to be to a greater or lesser degree, anti-british.
