Good move!!
Osborne is never going to deliver another budget. His days as Chancellor are numbered. He will be on the back benches in a couple of months. Parliament closes next week, and when it opens, he will be re-shuffled to a seat next to the toilets.

He has been deeply unpopular with his bullying of Government Departments. He has only survived as Chancellor because of his friend, the Prime Minister. Now he is going, Osborne is for the knackers yard.
Please note, this is the first, and maybe the last, time that I agree 100% with Gromit.
Where is the money going to come from for this massive tax cut ?

All his previous plans are in disarray, not just due to his failed Budget last year, where he was looking forward to hooking in millions from disabled people. He still hasn't explained how is going to fill that black hole, after his defeat in the House of Lords

So where will he find all these new £millions now ?

I am with Gromit here....Osborne is dead in the water, and that is why Osborne can promise the earth, because its highly unlikely that he will ever have to carry through with this.
//Where is the money going to come from for this massive tax cut ?//

From new investment? That's the general idea.
Could some of that fabled £350 million a week that supposedly went to the EU be used?
Sandy....but I thought that was going to be spent on the NHS ?
Yes, indeed. What was I thinking?
Its all terribly confusing isn't it Sandy !
^No surprise there.
No, as you know we are still paying the 300 million into the EU and will continue to do so until we leave. Even then given we are likely to have a remain Prime Minister we are still likely to cough up just to trade (for some reason).

Mickey, I know you dont have the first clue about business or economics but surely even you must see the logic. If you reduce tax it attracts companies to your shores. 10% of a large number of companies profit is worth far more than 50% of *** all companies. In addition it no longer becomes viable for the likes og Google to pay vast sums to filter their brass abroad so you get some of that too.

But then again I forget, of course labour thought it a good idea to tax at 98% and then wondered why there was a brain drain.
YMB....Osborne still hasn't explained how he is going to deal with the black hole in his fiscal plans, after a major part of his 2015 Budget was defeated in the House of Lords. Shouldn't he be sorting out that mess before making any more wild plans ?
Go on, Mikey, you tell him!! ;o)
I am not sure why this can be deemed a wild plan. It's a measure designed to encourage business to stay in or come to the UK. I think other measures will follow but he needs to tread carefully given his rash talk of drastic austerity measures (revenge budget?) in the event of a leave vote.
I wonder if the northern powerhouse may go on the back burner, the pensions 'triple lock' could go too and there is talk of changes to council tax banding.
came to this thread wondering what the culture club singer had been up to

Lets hope that one major project will never see the light of day again, due to the current fiasco......HS2 !

All that money and dispuption, just to make the journey from Town to Birmingham 20 mins less !
aelmpvw, haha! Me too.
Should Teresa May win then chances are Osborne may stay in post. I see that Philip Hammond has come out in support of her, maybe he has designs on No. 11 also.
Yes Mikey- sorry it was HS2 I meant when I referred to the Northern Powerhouse project being put on the back-burner (maybe for ever). I thought you'd have welcomes investment in infrastructure. I'd much rather see a housebuilding programme -although I think finding land is a suitable problem- most people want more houses as long as they are not near them
