Irrespective of how you voted, does anyone share my concerns about the way the Leave campaign has backtracked on pledges regarding immigration and money for the NHS? Nigel Farage described the £350 million for the NHS as a 'mistake'. I am deeply concerned that people have been misled.

Mikey, //the implications behind the posters and the bus was obvious to most people.//

They were indeed - but you missed them.
Maybe we should just accept that there were some extremely misleading claims on both sides and then move on. It's now up to the government to make it work or be answerable to the public

It was just part of the scare tactics used by the BREXIT campaign,

scare tactics?

What has happened to Georges 'punishment budget'?

That's right it was just a threat, a scare tactic!
I see no implications. I suspect erroneous inferences.
fiction-factory, these weren't 'claims' - that's the point - but I agree with you that it's time to move on.
Youngmafbog...YES!

I know it's not feasible, but that sum of money could revolutionise our over burdened NHS.

We (my colleagues and I) struggle month after month to achieve cancer wait targets. More money would fund more Doctors and Nurses to run more Clinics so that we could see patients sooner.

But just before we do, can any of those complaining about the 300 million a week please tell me if they would really want it all spent on the NHS?

Serious question, not looking to trip anyone up.
That is 300 million A WEEK Mercy.

Really?
^ agreed in some hospitals, although we'd need to look overseas for more doctors/nurses and may struggle to attract any from Europe
BTW, my wife works in the NHS for physiatrist care and my daughter is a doctor. Both are in different parts of the country and both have said much of the over burden is due to massive influx of non English speaking people using the service.
Yes it is a lot - around 15% I calculate in my head. Unfortunately I think a lot would get wasted in various ways and still wouldn't be seen as enough
youngmafbog, I wouldn’t want it spent on the NHS until the rot that has set into the NHS with over-management, unworkable targets, etc., etc., is cured. Throwing money at it is not the answer.
My 15% refererred to the £350million as a % of the current NHS spending, not the percentage of patients who are non-English speaking
Yes...REALLY.

Do you know just how much things cost in the NHS?

Are you aware that when a patient DNAs a 10-minute follow-up outpatient appointment, it costs us £400? That's £400 for each and every missed appointment. So when you do attend for an appointment it has cost us £400 before you've even walked into the consultation room. Once your treatment begins, that's when the costs really spiral...
Other over burdens, youngmafbog, include smoking, obesity and excess of alcohol intake.
The NHS could seriously benefit from any extra money, and if even some of the savings of leaving the EU, was spent on the NHS, then that can only be welcomed.
I strongly suspect it would be, but you need to vote in a government that cares for the institution of the NHS, not one determined to privatise it.
The NHS is well-funded but far too much is wasted and until that is serious acknowledge and addressed a high proportion of any extra funding would go the same way.
They were never going to give all the money to the NHS as the sum is just our contribution to the EU divided by 52 weeks - we have other important things to invest in as well. I believe the NHS could stand the level of scrutiny for financial improvement that many other services have had to deal with. It still has to many overpaid non medical staff.
NHS waste is nowhere near as colossal as it used to be.
