Oh give it a rest anotheoldgit!

Seriously we know your are against the EU, anything that talks a different language and is not white and anyone who does not partake in your ideal of the correct form of marriage!
Islay, do you think that headline is acceptable to a union of civilised nations?
No I don't think its acceptable but I am so sick of anotheoldgit's agenda!
What agenda is that? The lies we're being told about Turkey's accession concern the majority of thinking people in this country.
You could have picked a better thread to vent your spleen, Islay.

What ever happened to freedom of speech?
Islay, //No I don't think its acceptable //

I'm pleased to hear it. AOG is absolutely right to post this.
Boris used to want Turkey in the EU too. He seems to have changed his mind. What evidence do you have that Cameron hasn't?

Cameron said very recently that it will be a long time before Turkey joins the EU. Since he gave no indication that he doesn't want them in, I suspect he's paying lip service to the electorate's concerns at this very sensitive time.
and it will be a long time, long after he's left the scene, and Britain would retain its veto (despite the Brexit lie that it hasn't got one)
Obviously didn't read or didn't understand the link I posted, jno.
jno, if we leave, vetos will be irrelevant to us. Europe can have the Turks if they want them - and they're welcome to them.
This referendum makes for some strange bedfellows. Normally, leaked Government papers about secret deals to do the opposite to their public pronouncements would be 'manna from heaven' to jno et al. They'd be gleefully hammering the last nails in Cameron's coffin, not 'manning the barricades' to defend him.
Turkey will not be joinng the EU any time soon.

// Yeni Akit (Turkish: New Agreement) is a conservative and Islamist Turkish daily newspaper. The newspaper is known for its Islamic extremist views, support of militant Islamist organizations like Al-Qaeda, resorting to hate speech against groups like Jews and atheists. According to a report published by Hrant Dink Foundation, Yeni Akit is one of the top three Turkish newspapers resorting to hate speech. Yeni Akit newspaper is an avid supporter of AKP and has close ties with president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

It was founded in 2010 as a successor to Anadolu'da Vakit (2001 - 2010), but later took on the name Vakit. The original Vakit had been sued for defamation by 312 generals for a 2003 editorial written by columnist Asım Yenihaber which criticised the military. Vakit lost the case, and was ordered to pay TL1.8m in 2010. Columnist Abdurrahman Dilipak had his house forcibly sold in 2009 to pay damages relating to a 2000 article. //

It is an extremist newspaper, and the headline is to be expected.
jno; //He [Boris] seems to have changed his mind.

Doesn't he look young? Events-driven, a lot of us have changed our minds on many issues since then, and a good thing too.
No one is defending Cameron.
Just nailing the lie that Turkey is about to join the EU .
Why don't the brexitters keep to the truth instead of scaremongering, is their case not strong enough?

/// It is an extremist newspaper, and the headline is to be expected. ///

No, no matter if the newspaper is extremist, this type of headline should never, and I repeat never, be expected.

It would not be allowed in any civilised country.
This is disgraceful. Does anyone knoww if this newspaper is publicly on sale please?
I don't know if it is openly sold on newstands.
