… is to be sold at auction. George Zimmerman, who shot the boy, says he is selling the gun partly to raise funds to fight "Hillary Clinton's anti-firearm rhetoric", and describes the weapon on the auction site as ‘An American Icon’.

Is it just me who finds this sick?

No,not just you
Only in America.
what frightens me is that there are millions of morons like george zimmerman carrying guns
Totally sick!!
Don't you live here, ael?

Sick ... Unfortunately there will be a large number of fellow sicko's bidding on it.
yes Talbot, it's the thought that frightens me
Poor taste. He clearly doesn't care about criticism simply stating that those folk won't be bidding...

I hope there's a protest as the hammer is about to fall when the auctioneer announces 'Fair warning'. Something his victim did not receive...
I'm stunned that the U.S. Dept of Justice even returned this weapon to him even if he was acquitted.

'Poor taste' to say the least. To describe the weapon as an 'American Icon'? What sort of mentality is that? Nutcase! I hope no one bids for it - but I bet some will.
I thought that he was an older guy - he's 20 years younger than me.

Let's hope it doesn't meet the reserve...

Sadly, this 'icon' will sell.
No, Naomi - not just you.
It is hardly an icon. It is a relatively modern weapon that can be bought in Walmart along with hundreds of others!! Hardly 'the gun that won the West'
More of a 'con'.
Question Author
retrocop, I'm guessing he deems it an 'Icon' because it was used to shoot the boy.

Yes I am aware of that stance. As you say 'sick'.

Just confirms my opinion of Rednecksrus.com
I suppose he has a right to be such a tasteless cretin, but it's incredibly sad to see. And sadder still that there will people who will want to bid for the gun.
The problem is, at what point does it become acceptable for memorabilia like this to become acceptable.

Certainly not this soon I would say, but when?
Younmafbog, in these circumstances, never.

I don't think this weapon should ever be classed as memorabilia just because it was used to kill a black boy. It has not been used in any historic event . It is an ordinary handgun with a tragic past.
