Time marches on.....and things change.
It's heartening that members of the Braunstone History Group think it is an interesting place in which to live.
Of course things change !

But the purpose of the DM article is perfectly clear........have a go at foreigners !
Someone posted about this road yesterday and I looked it up - what was great to see was a street of thriving businesses rather than the sad sight of many roads with boarded up shops.

Very interesting to see the old and the new, fascinating.
Mikey - wouldn't the purpose be more about selling newspapers?
Yes of course it does agchristie ! But the DM does that by constantly reinforcing its readerships views.

Hurrah for the Blackshirts !
I had to laugh at the picture of the butcher's shop in 1951.
Mikey, I don't think you've read that report, but rather jumping to unfounded conclusions. I can't see anyone there having a go at foreigners.
Mamy....like you, I think its wonderful to see such a vibrant community, with its busy shopping and eating opportunities.

Too many of our High Streets are now full of charity shops and boarded-up premises these days.

Although charity shops make wonderful secondhand book browsing !
Preaching to the converted then Mikey! No additional harm done then ;)
No, probably not agchristie !
Mikey
You are sooo predictable. Change the record can't you ?
Why has aog got a ? mark after the title of his post ?
Retrocop, are you saying Mikey has his own album ;)
Retro...I will as soon as AOG and the DM change theirs !
Mikey, you didn't read it. Oops! :o)

\\\But the purpose of the DM article is perfectly clear........have a go at foreigners !\\\

For goodness sake Mikey read the article, there is no sign of anyone having a go at foreigners, just for once give it a rest!

///'It is the world in microcosm, all these people, from all these different places, different cultures, living cheek by jowl, working with each other and living in harmony. It really is an incredible array of nationalities in one place.'///

Is AOG celebrating along with the DM , the changing and diverse nature of Britain today ?
Fantastic (top rated) responses to the story.

I'm beginning to get a little respect for Daily Mail readers...perhaps in part because they've been superseded by Daily Express readers in the 'hate stakes'.
dont forget mikey (and probably some others on here) would be more than happy if there werent any white faces, if the balance was under 50% white in the UK....he probably looks forward to the day and has the champers ready..
Baz....you're as repetitive as Mikey!
