In the world of terrorism and bomb planting there is a "come on" ploy. I suffered loss of hearing on one such bomb. Police officer looks in bin and sees an air rifle and a knife. ...but if you're on a shoplifting spree a burka could prove very useful.
It was reported he also had a hand grenade.
Or to carry your AK47 Jackdaw whilst avoiding being identified.
TOGO are folk not allowed to visit other faiths' places of worship? ANOTHEOLDGIT mentioned a supermarket and I think I am correct in saying that Muslims need to get messages now and again so a visit to Asda or any other supermarket would not be unusual whereas a visit to the bookies would be. Having said that, have you seen many nuns or ministers in your local betting shop?

I don't tend to frequent bookies' but I would guess that a nun or a minister would get a few looks from the punters.
Corby - the priest who lead mass at my uncles funeral met my uncle in the bookies...

Turned into a great friendship.

If I did I would ask what they were having a punt on at Punchestown. Because I m absolutely sure that they had the nod. Now if that was a Muslim cleric or a burka clad individual, I would be inclined to bail out PDQ.

I reckon he was a lone nutter - no sophisticated terrorist walks up to a landside desk with an air rifle and then runs away and dumps it in a litter bin.
TOGO have you seen ANY Muslim clerics or any woman in a burka in the bookies?

Do you think that the black man holds the whip hand, Jordyboy?

//I would say "one" was paranoid and "one" was Islamaphobic if "one" were uncomfortable at seeing someone in a burka.//
You really must try to understand your own fatuous points cobyloon before trying to turn them into something they could never be. If I spot any of your favourite stereotypical bogeymen entering the bookies, St Pauls, Rock concert, etc. etc. I will certainly be concerned regarding the reason for the 'visit'. The problem to me seems to be that we have collectively ignored the reason for the many 'visits' we now seem to enjoy.

A perfectly resonable reply, retrocop, right up until the last sentence. That's when you went all 'thousand yard stare' and pompous as per the manual.
Yes a perfectly reasonable reply to an ill informed comment that would display a degree of ignorance and stupidity on your behalf.
Pompous AND subscribed, how sweet.

Now tell us about the good old days. What did you do in the war grandad?
Do you still practice the look of supercilious disdain in the mirror since you hung up your truncheon? Just in case there's a recall in an emergency.

If you wish to route about in litter bins regardless of the consequences then that is your choice but ,then, as a rank amateur you would be ignorant and know no better. Mock a munitions disposal officer by his choice of rendering a potential IED safe if you will but tell us how you deal with these occurrences in the real world please.
Don't bother. If I actually valued your opinion I might get angry.
:-D
