I never eat 40 sausages a day, though

I can accept that the fare of the stone age may be best suited to the Muslims but I would prefer to kill myself in my own way in a civilised, comfortable manner. Bangers and Bacon rule.

Ha, Retro, how true. Bluddy WHO - won't be happy until were put in hermetically sealed vessles upon birth and fed nothing but water and vitamins.
There's never been a more delicious way to kill yourself slowly, then.
Never listen to any of these scare mongering tales, never have, never will !! Sausages rule .....

Good health is natures way of a slower death. :-)

Seeing that photo' of all that Bacon in the link made me feel peckish so I'm now eating a Bacon Sarnie.

As for becoming Jewish I just don't fancy the Op!
Everything in moderation. Including safety risks.

I hope you are not using rhyming slang there. :-)
Why not just stop eating this rubbish? I don't think the religious aspect is relevant :-)
Bacon, ham and sausage are not rubbish.

No doubt thus latest report will soon be rubbished though.
This isn't really news. We already know processed meat increases the risks. It seems everything desirable is pointed out as bad for you eventually. Even breathing.

You're a laugh a minute aintcha OG? ;-)
Sausage? Sausage!!!

Smoked meats are as bad as smoking in terms of cancer. Nothing wrong with unsmoked meats if they are lean cuts and not fried.
Yep. Meat is smoked using wood flakes and gives off much the same cocktail of chemicals as cigarettes or garden waste in a bonfire - pyrenes, aromatic (benzene-like) compounds and so on. Nicotine is the headline grabber but it's the other components in smoke which are orders of magnitude more carcinogenic.

Singapore is choked with forest fire smoke, lately, which is why a lot of them wear face masks.
OG is quite right. I remember learning those health risks when doing my degree course 40 years ago! As with most 'harmful' substance, when taken in moderation, there is no risk. Common sense prevails.
Two different risks:
Meat being bad for your heart was known 40 years ago.
Meat giving you Cancer is a lot newer proposition.
