I find it utterly dispicable and disrespectful that Jeremy Corbyn refused to sing the National Anthem today at the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain service.

Disrespectful not only to our Queen and country but also to the many who gave their lives for this country.

How do you feel about him being a Party Leader with an attitude like this?

Maybe he can't sing - if it was me, I would have cleared the whole beano in seconds.... However, he needs to smarten up starting with doing his top button up and pushing his tie into place. Shades of Michael Foot to him - and God help it if he goes for the duffel coat and white poppy at the Cenotaph.

Personally I am totally indifferent to such things. There may be a deeper meaning behind his not singing or, perhaps, he can't sing. I don't suppose that the Queen is bothered anyway.

Night - hope you sleep well and have only nice dreams. :-)

No wolfie, he can sing, he sang The Red Flag loud enough ....

You sleep well too Wolfie x
perhaps he doesn't believe in God?
I think everyone has the choice and he took his, he stated he was there to respect those who fought etc..

I think many would have been more surprised if he had sung his heart out knowing his stance.

I can feel your disappointment however and you too are allowed that Ann.
Bloke is a waste of space imo, worse than the fellow who wore a donkey jacket at the Cenotaph.

I'm just puzzled that he has been elected when he holds such strong positive views on controversial subjects, like the IRA and ISIS.
But who am I to debate politics? ;)
Baza, I think you must be talking about Michael Foot. In fact, it's been said many times that he wasn't wearing a donkey jacket, but an overcoat. He was just one of those people that always look slightly dishevelled, no matter what they wear or how hard they try to look reasonable.
As for Corbyn, I agree with Mamya. If he had sung, some people would have criticised him for not standing by his beliefs.
You have every right Ann, I am sure it will crop up in the News topic tomorrow.
He is a republican and was adhering to his principles. Many professional sportsmen can be seen often on TV not singing, when the national anthem is played before a match.

I am not too happy about the anti Scottish words employed in the English anthem ,and have every sympathy for his silent respect for the people who gave their lives during WW2.
If that is how he feels he should not have been there.
I never sing the national anthem either but then, I'm not a public figure. One HAS to do one's duty in public office, like it or not. He should've warbled it or he shouldn't have been there. Shame on this superannuated eejit. Time he came into the 21st century. Are all his clocks / calendars etc., still set in the 60s/70s? He's certainly a gift to all other parties.
There's a whole generation of young voters who have not lived through the horrors of a Socialist government. For that matter, who remembers the 15% bank rate and inflation caused by unions leapfrogging pay rises?
Good morning Ann. Unusual to see you 'go into one', but good for you. This man doesn't represent the people of this country - he represents only the handful of unthinking idiotic troublemakers who voted for him. He's a nonentity. He won't last long.
As predicted, the Tory rebushing of everything that Corbyn does or says has begun.
do you actually like commy corbyn mikey? do you seriously think he will take the labour party into power?

//As predicted, the Tory rebushing of everything that Corbyn does//

There's lots of Media coverage of him not singing so no rebushing (?) there
mikey.........Corbyn has a big job to do, a prestigious position, the top man in the Labour Party and his function is SOLELY to get Labour elected into Government, anything less will be looked at as a failure.......and so it should be.
Many people who have reached the pinnacle of their, trade, profession and have had to swallow their pride and perhaps opinions and traditions to justify such ultimate gains. Jeremy must learn to do the same.........and good luck to the guy and i hope he does.
What now for Harold Wilson or Tony Blair to give him some advice.

He doesn't need to "suck up" to the Labour following, but he needs to attract the floating voter and to do this he will need a change of ethos.

Can he do it?
Sqad....the main problem over the last few years, is that the main Parties have become very similar.

Corbyn was elected precisely because he isn't a "cookie-cutter" politician.
I am not sure if he can survive the growing and predictable concerted efforts to destroy him, from the Usual Suspects, but I admire his willingness to try.
