Very true, isn't it.

You're under 30, though, jim.
Easy to make generalisations. As someone who has patients of a wide variety of ages on the caseload, I'd say ignorance is very much not always confined to the young.
Is it any wonder that Mankind throughout the ages have chosen to be ruled by 'Their Elders'?

Ignorance of the past is.

No one, has a true personal experience of the past, unless one has lived through those times.

If you don't understand it........
People who are over 65 are far more likely to vote than those in younger age brackets, and given that we live in an ageing population, does that then mean we can squarely put the blame on all the oldies for the selection of the last few governments?

And they've done so well haven't they?

/// And they've done so well haven't they? ///

They've not done so badly, Churchill for instance, steered the British people safely through 6 years of WW2.

Name me any of the present baby faced recent lot, who could have achieved the same?

one thing that is true that regardless of age, knowledge perception is inversely proportional to actual knowledge.

Some of them were not ideal, but what would we have if left to the 'couldn't care less' non voters amongst the young?

It doesn't bear thinking about.
ANOTHEOLDGIT, if the elders were so smart, why was there a world war only a generation after the previous one, a war they would have lived through?
I think campbellking means we have the oldies to thank for not having Millipede and Jimmy Krankie, running the country!

They can be wise but that does not make them magicians.

But to take you up on your war example, we have not done too well under these young whipper-snappers either.
A more pertinent question might be "When will Peter Hitchin be arrested for stealing James Nesbitt's face?"
AOG, your post at 12:47, are you forgetting Blair?
sandyRoe

No I am not, what did he achieve except to lead us in an illegal war?
I think he is joking. My very sides might split :-)
Peter Hitchens cannot possible be as dumb as this motley collection of rants would indicate. And presumably some people read this stuff every week
