LOL...LOL...^^^ wear that badge with honour.
She has called me a snob, pompous, out of date with my medical advice and possibly giving dangerous posts.

I am rather proud of it.
It is interesting Sqad - AOG was the first person on here to refer to me as 'pompous' (yeah, I know ...) and since then it has become the lable-du-jour for a number of AB'ers who have taken a dislike to me for whatever reasons.

As you can probably tell, it makes not one ounce of difference - I know that I may sometimes appear pompous, but I also know that I am not.

I also get criticised for being verbose, and that I will always hold my hands up for - it is true.

As long as I am not looking for personal affirmation from my colleagues, I will be fine - and that day has not dawned yet.
^^^ LOL...LOL.
You ARE pompous.....you ARE verbose.....you are not my "cup of tea"............but you ARE Andy-Hughes and a valuable member of AB......well respected by some......loathed by others, as most of us are.

LOL...
Thanks Sqad - I can live with that assessment - I feel pretty much the same about you!
LOL^^....;-)

divebuddy.....LOL......sort of.....sort of....
divebuddy - //a sort of mutual (non) admiration society in fact. //

I think that it's the situation for most AB'ers most of the time.

One day a poster will write something you agree with, and you post a supportive comment, and you are friends, and then on another day, the same poster will produce something that it utterly baffling in its crassness and stupidity, and you find yourselves jumping all over each other all day.

However, with the sort of bloodless compromise that is always possible between mature adults, we all manage to move on to the next subject, and lines are re-drawn.

I would not have it any other way.

I resolve to try and be less pompous tomorrow!

And apologies sandy for having hi-jacked so much of your thread in spatting with my colleagues - will try to do better.

No need. No need at all for that. It adds a piquancy to the post.
Excuse, Sandy....while I think of something stupid and crass to say to Andy......♥
It was probably a no win situation for the poor woman.
If the guards had managed to rescue her...her father would have then had to kill her anyway (all in the name of honour obviously)

The old insults are the best.
"Your wife, sirrah, under the pretext of keeping a bawdy house, is a receiver of stolen goods."
"'pon my soul, I don't know whether you will die of the pox or on the gallows!"

"That, sir, will depend on whether I embrace your mistress or your principles."
Thank you, Jno....that should ensure success.....☺
/// Bad publicity for Islam isn’t an attractive prospect in a city like Dubai.///

Not just Dubai, Naomi. The 'Nothing to do with Islam' London based politicians and certain quarters in ABland are just as bad/sickening.

Just try telling an alcoholic that he or she is one, springs to mind.

Comparing a minor personality trait with a serious physical illness - yes, that makes sense.

Mind you, in the judging of pomposity, it always helps to have someone with person experience on hand!
Andy, you never used to be like this, what the hell happened to you? you used to make valuable contributions, now you come across as a pedantic bore!
I haven't taken a dislike to you Andy.

The C&P makes your answers hard to read. The fact that you are always trying to defend the indefensible because you haven't got all the facts gets tiresome.

How many religions would allow their daughter to die rather than have a stranger touch them? We don't need to be told that they are Muslim.

I'm not anti Muslim either.
