I recall what was perhaps an apocryphal quote from De Gaulle.

He and his wife were being interviewed by the BBC, when it was announced that he was going to retire. Madam De Gaulle was asked what she was most looking forward to in her husbands retirement.

She replied, in heavily accented English " A penis"

De Gaulle broke in, hurriedly and said ::::: " No no my dear ! ...here they say
appiness"

Well, I thought it was funny !
de Gaulle's home town was later Colombey les deux Eglises

and in the other one they worshipped God !
