Top 100 also includes Ibrahim, Omar and Ali and also an Indian name in Aarav.

Maryam is the fastest rising name at number 35 and Nur is the highest Muslim name at 29. Sophia was the number 1 gals' name, anne.
Fatima is a lovely name. It conjures up images of seraglios and Turkish Delight. Is it high on the list of girls names?

Snap, mamya!
I don't know if SandyRoe is joking or not, but to me the name Fatima conjures up an image of an enormous, chunky girl. I don't know if that's because of the javelin thrower or because 'fat' is in there.

Nothing like a bit of Turkish Delight, sandy. A mate of mine went out with the Turkish Finance Minister's daughter - she had the wonderful name of Denys (Dennis) and the firebrand that she was, she almost justified an extra unit of police protection for her own good. She wouldn't think twice about thumping him while he was driving - he loved it.
She'd have been the one wearing the harem pants in that relationship.
I don't like the name Fatima, sandyRoe. The way I pronounce it, it sounds like an overweight mother. x
has been for years - this is from 2010 (apologies for the source)

Shirin is a beautiful name for girls. Persian rather than Arabic, I think.
I may be how you pronounce it Sandy. Fatty ma hardly conjures up a glamourous image.
Question Author
Indeed it is Persian, meaning sweet or pleasant. There are some very nice names in their list of the top 100 for gals, Taraneh (song) for example, or Nazila (cute).
Mohammed McTavish and Fatima Farquharson could you report to the headmasters office please

Was I joking ?
the name mohammed has probably been top of the list from longer ago than 2010, JNO - its popularity has to an extent been hidden by the large amount of different ways it can be spelled.
Shows just how this country is fast being destroyed.....
