I doubt it and if you want to support him you are a bit sick
Not necessarily, his lawyers seem to think that there was little real evidence to link him to the crime.
yes fair enough we shouldn't pass judgement without hearing all the evidence but passing judgement includes expressing support so why would anybody want to express support unless they'd sat in on the trial?
I agree with the others. Unless there is evidence to prove he didn't do it then you shouldn't even want to support him. I doubt that there are any support groups; most people firmly believe he's a murderer.
You support who you want mate, lets not forget you have the right to your own opinion and the freedom to express it.
I'm not sure I agree with some of the comments above, particularly happyduck. Whatever happened to he principle of innocent until proven guilty one of the cornerstones of the British legal systems? It seems to me that he was convicted on the tiniest amount of forensic evidence and that the circumstances surrounding the case are intriguing. What are the chances that in a few years time we'll see him walking free.. anyone remember the guildford four, birmingham six etc etc...!
It's called surfing the internet....I doubt you are going to find many Barry George supporters on this site. And as for the British system which says "Everyone is innocent until proven guilty", which has been followed, he has been proven as guilty so Obo is completely wrong!
sep41999 I did not state that he was not guilty, just diagreed that as happyducky suggested the burden of proof should be on the defendant to prove he didn't do it as opposed to the other way around as I believe is the case in British law. My other point was that there have been numerous cases where people of been convicted only to have the convictions overturned, quashed or found to be unsound on appeal it would come as no surprise if this case went the same way...
It's only fair that someone who feels Barry George is innocent have the same right to those who feel he is guilty and should be able to express their support. Those cursing his name were also not sat in on the trial but because they want someone punished for the crime and think that the right man is in prison then feel they have the right to call a person of oppiste opinions sick. I do not support or condem barry george because i, as many others, do not have the knowlegde to make an informed, logic conclusion.
Did anyone see the programme about Barry George last night on Channel 4 that went through all of the evidence used in court. If anyone did see this, it was pretty obvious that Barry George was set up.I say this because all the evidence against him was so weak you will probably see him walking out of jail in about 20 years with the police and Magistrates having to apoligise. All ten witnesses described the man they saw on the day that Jill Dando was shot as having Longish or shoulder length hair which is the complete opposite of Barry Georges hairstyle. Maybe before typing an insult on this site 5029 you should be more open minded and look at all the facts, not just the ones you are told by your "telly".
I wholeheartedly agreed with both Pixie and Unabashed (despite my suspicion that it might be Jonny Vegas) so of the comments posted in answer to this question appear to of been made by those who are sorely under informed or maybe Unabashed, it's not so much that they are informed by the "telly" as badly informed by whatever tabloid rag they choose to read
Good point Obo, as they say: " It's easy to sit there and be fed imformation, but it's much harder to seek out the truth"
I saw the documentary and I do feel that he is innocent of this crime, I agree that he was "fitted up", mainly because this was such a high profile investigation and the police have to be seen to be "doing their job efficiently" which was probably why the appeal was turned down.If the facts of the documentary were correct and it could be proven he had an alibi for the time of the murder, and had no training of how to fire a gun and almost certainly wouldn't have been physically capable of aiming straight, why was all this ignored? The person who killed Jill Dando was a professional, which Barry George patently was not. This is not the first time a person with severe learning difficulties has been persecuted to make the police look good.
Barry George could not even change a tyre on his bike let alone change a starting pistol into a real gun that was capable of firing bullits, which is also what he is accused of doing......This is just one in a long line of cases as you said coemgen that will no doubt be questioned in afew years time when Barry George is alot older....
I watched the documentary on channel 4 called Cutting Edge this week, and I must conclude that even an idiot will come to the conclusion that Barry George is an innocent man! The only shame here is that there is a real killer out there, and an innocent man has been wrongfully convicted. It begs the question is our Justice System really working, where evidence is ignored and manipulated to obtain results over the truth.
No doubt there is a killer out there who was not charged with this crime, but what sort of killer....was this a professional hitman ? If so why on earth would Jill Dando been the target of an asassin ?
Maybe it was from a disgruntled criminal whose friends/ crimes had been featured on Crimewatch. She can't have had any friends among the people whose misdeeds were exposed on that show.
"Why on earth would someone assasinate Jill Dando?" Erm, hate to mention it but we were bombing Serbia at the time, a country then undergoing a rash of political/criminal assasinations. We attacked their TV station, killing journalists, who had been cynically left there by the Serbian Govt. Jill Dando was very high profile, and had a certain X factor that had made her the nations favourite broadcaster. As a sickener to the Brits during that war, it it is not entirely illogical, there are lots of reasons why it would be not made public by either the Serbs or the Brits, but I don't go for conspiracy theories either. As far as means, motive and opportunity you have them there. At least two of those were not established for Barry George. The jury remains out but I wouldn't bet either way, look on the bright side theres a 50% chance the right guy is behind bars!
There are actually a number of only petitions - two on www.petitionsonline.com (one made by myself). There is also the official petition that can be found at www,barrygeorge.co.uk

You might also be interested in knowing that I have just had a book published that aims to prove Barry is innocent. It is entitled The Case of Barry George and is available through UK bookshops, Amazon and www.kemptonmarks.com

If anyone wants to know how they can get involved in helping Barry, or would like more details about the case, feel free to contact me - [Email address removed as per site policy. - AB Editor]
