Barry George has offered to take a lie detector test .

The McCanns also offered some while ago.

Were both these offers serious offers?

If so, does anyone know when the tests will be taken by George and the McCanns ?

Why does Barry George have to take a lie detector test exactly? He's just been freed for gawds's sake. If I were him I'd just keep my head down but of course the media won't allow it. Anyway, just for the record I never thought he shot Jill Dando - I'm going with the hit theory.
as these polygraphs can be fooled, what is the point, it would prove nothing either way.
According to Jeremy Kyle there 97% correct
Scotgal....got anything to back up the 'hit' theory?

I've always thought the same.
Not really Ter, just a feeling in my water, I just felt that because Jill was so high profile the police were under more pressure for a quick result so they picked on the local weirdo.

barry george or the mcCanns DONT HAVE to take the test but they VOLUNTARILY OFFERED to take one to support there innocence..

So, were their offers serious ?

And if they were serious, when are george and the mcCanns going to act on their on their offer ?

Well its a win win situation isn't it?

Lie detector tests are not reliable enough for english courts to rely upon them - that is why the evidence is inadmissible.

So if they "pass" the test they can proclaim "we are innocent", if they fail they can proclaim "test is flawed".

Still a pretty brave thing to do by someone who has nothing to hide - unless they are banking on the fact that no one will take them up on it.

(For the record, I think the McCanns are innocent but stupid and George has been acquitted in a Court of competent jurisdiction).
Jill's fiance was a divorcee.........his ex wife hire a hit?

A woman scorned, etc

Thanks Barmaid.

Yes,as you say its a pretty brave thing to do - if you actually do it.

Why havent the McCanns already done it after having offered.

I dont know if the McCanns are innocent or not - but if they and the tapas friends actually put themselves through an independent test and tested innocent I feel it would eliminate almost all remaining doubters and do their PR war a world of good. A full-ltime PR man might no longer be needed and the resources saved could be rechannelled into finding Maddie instead of spinning.
if the keystone cops had done their jobs properly in the first place then the little girl might have been found sooner....
No ter I was thinking more the Crimewatch link mebbe
mm, lie detectors may be good for the "shock Horror my wife slept with your grandad and now who's the father typey shows" aka Jeremy kyle , but are flawed, I blush easily , does that mean if there is a smell in the room and someone say who did that and I blush does it mean i did it ?? not always ..... anyway there is no substitute for good policing , forensics and eye witness , coming together to the same conclusion , a return to old fashioned policing , preserving the scene, ensuring the lab does not contaminate anything at all? and gathering all evidence available without interferance from media etc etc etc surreptisiously convicting a person before the facts are known , there are many crimes unsolved in the world , the fact is someone knows/knew what happened to all the crimes unsolved its just a matter of waiting for there guard to drop ...... anyone for a game of cluedo???
Maybe they can return to the original credible theory
