I believe that something has to be done from within the Asian communities in this country.
The inbuilt insularity of Asian families makes it next to impossible for authorities to infiltrate this dreadful practice without inside help, and I would hope that a first step towards solving the problem will be acknowledging it.
That acknowledgement has to start with some education about the rights of women in all communities, and more accurately, the lack of rights of Muslim men to be behave with impunity in the area of exploitation.
It is going to take time, but that is no excuse for feet-dragging among the senior members of Muslim communities in the UK - it is they who will be listened to - it is they who must start talking - loudly.

What a pity that everybody who is crying out for asians to do something about the child abuse within their own communities, didn't speak out when their local white Scout Leaders, Vicars, swimming instructors, DJ's, Army cadet force leaders, etc were abusing children until the cows came home. They even gave some of these perverts honours and gongs !

The mainly white institutions in Britain, like the Church, Army, Houses of Parliament, Scouts, etc, ignored what was going under their noses for years and years, before finally admitting that there was a problem of paedophilia in their midst. How many people would have believed me, or anybody else if we had flagged up Jimmy Saviles behaviour before he had died ? I can't forget that he was given something approaching a state funeral when he went...he even lay in state for Gods sake.

I don't know what all the fuss is about the large scale systematic grooming and raping of children, and the fact that the police have done *k all about it for years despite being repeatedly made aware of it.

Regular checks - forms to fill out on a regular basis with discriminatory questions like 'are you a terrorist' 'do you like hanging around gyms' ' do you like it when things go 'bang ?'
Committees - holy mary thousands of them - all needing staffing and expenses....

In this country there has always been the sexual grooming and abuse of children, it is only in the recent years that this dirty massive secret has become headline news and action taken.
Children's' homes have long been a magnet for paedophiles. After all, the children are vulnerable and easy targets. Everyone wants to feel special to somebody, everyone needs to be loved. It is too easy for predators to hoodwink these children. The staff at the homes cannot lock the children in the rooms or restrain them in any way. The children cannot be punished for running away with their older 'friends'. They are reported to the police, brought back and abscond again. If they refuse to testify against the people who are abusing them it is very difficult for anything to be done.
I saw this happening in the 1970s and it is happening now.
I suggest those who think it is a recent phenomenon research Keith Laverack and his cronies at Greystone Heath Approved School around 1965, which spread to various children's homes, foster homes and schools around the country.
Look at Warwick Spinks who raped and sold boys to other paedophiles before moving to Amsterdam where he made videos and snuff movies with young boys as the 'stars'.
As distressing as it is to read the news reports I am glad it is now out in the open, that abused children and survivors of child abuse feel able to come forward and be listened to and men and women are being arrested and prosecuted.

naomi, anyone who has sex with an 11 year old (as mentioned in that link) is a paedophile.
I don't care what colour a persons skin is, what religion they follow or what part of the world their ancestors came from. Anyone who targets children and young people for sex has no respect for them and treats them as commodities.
