lets hope they can get to the bottom of the case now.
They don't say he's been identified yet......

I think they must be pretty sure.
no mention that its him...
and they havent located his wife and kid yet......
This is interesting. Two women disappeared near to where Alice was found and have never been found. And this was BEFORE Zalkalns came to live in this country.

that's very curious, ladybrider.

I only hope Zalkalns does prove to be the man - and they don't just conveniently close the book on Alice's case.

21:00, Just turned over to Sky News, they are still talking about an Unidentified Body, Logic says it is him, but we don't know yet!
Looking at the photographs on the page I see that they had sniffer dogs in boats sniffing the water. I am sure that this way must work but it looks strange.

If this guy is not guilty it is going to mean extra anguish for Alice's family and friends. The general public in the area might feel a bit vulnerable too.

On Sky News now they are saying the front pages of several Sunday papers have the month old decomposed body as Zalkalns. Jumping the gun I would have thought.
The Star front page says "Killer found Hanged". So they have identified him and found him guilty? Police still not confirmed it's him.
From ladybirder's link:

The police officers who contacted The Independent accept that his recent, unexplained disappearance makes him the prime suspect in the Alice Gross murder inquiry.

But despite the 14-year gap, they are amazed at the links between the cases. “Whoever killed [these] girls showed considerable coolness, sophistication in avoiding being seen during the act, and avoiding capture,” one said.

Odd that the officer appears to know that all 3 are dead, yet only one body has been found?
Does he know something we don't?
