Very moving photo that has been doing the rounds online recently.

Liang Yaoyi had been fighting brain cancer since he was 9. He chose to donate his organs, which have been successfully transferred to other children with life-threatening conditions.

RIP

in the uk, you wouldn't be able to donate if you had cancer
What a lovely mature lad.

May you RIP.
It was touching to see them all bow down to honour the boy.

It is such a difficult subject for doctors to bring up with parents of children.

It is amazing how many children make the decision on their own. I think that donating organs is a brilliant idea, but I respect that many people do not wish to do so.

I believe that there is a shortage of child organ donors in this country.

black_cat.........I was wondering about that too.

Presumably this boy had a primary malignant tumour of the brain which doesn't metastasis.

Good point.
I saw that earlier - good to see.

People with cancer are generally not accepted as organ donors with the exception of those with primary brain tumours which have not spread beyond the brain stem.
They are accepted both in the US and the UK..
