They originally backed these changes to the benefit system.

"Public" may be the key word? Would you begrudge a disabled mum for instance from her benefit?
This very unfair, disgusting, Tax should never ever been brought out in the first place, what do you think is happening now Tora> is it the case of the basds trying to convince the public that they are on their side? there's as much chance of the Queen inviting you to tea, I hope the along with that bitch that helped to close Remploy they rot in hell.
//Mr Alexander proposed that nobody should face a cut in state help if there was no suitable smaller property available, and that disabled claimants should be exempt.

New tenants in the social rented sector should still be subject to the changes, he said, but existing tenants would only be penalised if they were offered a "suitable smaller home and, crucially, turn it down".//

I think that makes perfect sense.

It makes sense to allocate a house based on the house merits and charge accordingly, not worry about how many folk are in there aside from allocating as best as one can at the time of allocation. To simply charge more because one can is common enough government behaviour. We are all at risk of such bullying.
This daft rule change is not working ! If there aren't any smaller properties to move to, why penalise people ? It was ill-thought out and the Libs shouldn't have sided with it in the first place. They have nobody to blame but themselves. I have no time for them at all. They will climb on any bandwagon going, just to convince people that they aren't the small, unimportant Party that they are.

They'll say anything they think will be popular with the electorate. It won't do them any good though. I think they're finished.

TWR, the Labour government shut down 29 Remploy factories. Which bitch are you talking about?

sorry TWR what "tax" are we talking about?
-- answer removed --
If you can call someone nice for helping to throw 1000s out of work Colin, each to their own, I have feelings for those people, some don't.
TGT - Must you belabour the same point ad nauseum?

The 'popular' name for this issue is 'the Bedroom Tax', as well you know......

The new proposals sound far fairer in my opinion, and that should have been how it was addressed from the outset...
You could express your feelings in a more appropriate way.

You've forgotten the people Labour threw out of work.

But it's not a tax, it's a possible reduction in free money from the public it's the oppposite of a tax. A tax is what I must pay in order to fund it.
