I'm sitting here watching the news, is anyone else feeling as bad as I am watching the soldiers having to move their own people out of their homes?  Just saw a shot of a young soldier crying because of the things that they are being called. What a horrible situation for them

I'd feel more sympathetic if the land was theirs to live in to begin with; they stole Gaza as spoils of the 1967 war and it has caused no end of problems ever since. At least now Israel has woken up to this fact and is trying to rectify it, but of course the people won't go without a fight because they firmly believe it's their land full stop.
Well, it is, but I have mixed feelings for them. It's one thing to get very upset about giving up your home, it's another to get very upset because you have a deep, abiding hatred for those who will move in to take your place. This is the best hope they themselves have for peace, to give up the land which they occupy illegally. Of course the rest of the world believes the land is held illegally, for them it is the 'Promised Land.'

who, me?

Nice to see you back In a Pickle.

If things had been handled a bit differently, they could have been told "It's your choice - come with us and live in Israel or stay where you are and live in Palestine".

Sorry, if they weren't illegally occupying land that's not theirs, they would still have a home tonight.
I thought the question referred to the soldiers, so YES, I do feel sorry for them.  it's an awful job to be given and they seem to be trying to do it with dignity and understanding, which must be very difficult.

Thank you kick3m0n that was actually my point. I have my own opinions on the whole situation but this question was about the soldiers, they looked devastated by what they were having to do, and being abused by their own people when they clearly didnt even want to do it must be horrible.
Surely it's better than Isareli soldiers evicting Palestinians, bulldozing their homes and enjoying it?
