At last someone has recognised that the much heralded increase in competition, and therefore cheaper prices that we were promised when these industries were hived off in the 80's, has not materialised. Why has it taken so long ?

Interesting point grumpy ! But I did notice the other day, while watching PMQs, that dave is not as youthful looking as he was 4 years ago !
Who is, after years in the PM job? Blair aged rapidly, as did Brown, and just about every leader I can think of.

Honestly, I cannot understand why anybody would want the role.

They should have given it to Ann Widdecombe !
Nice one Mickey !

There is an opinion on AB that I hate all Tories. Not true ! Widdecombe made an awful lot of sense and has/had more b*lls than most of the Tory front bench.

One of my favourite quotes of hers was when she described Michael Howard of having a bit of the night about him. I have tried but failed to get it on You Tube.
>>>all these companies need to make huge profits

How do you define 'huge'? Yes, if you look at how many million pounds they make, you might well conclude that their profits are 'huge' but if you look at the actual accounts you'll see that they're about 2% of revenue.

So, if a family is currently paying £1500 per year for their domestic fuel bill, even reducing their energy supplier's profit to absolutely zero would only knock £30 a year off their fuel bill.
