They can't seem to let this poor woman rest in peace. Every so often someone brings her name up attached to some underhand goings-on. I wonder how her sons feel when they see things like this?

The main reason that it is being brought out now is because there are people from the NOTW who are facing jail over very serious charges. The case hasn't been going very well for them and this is being used as some kind of justification of their alleged activities.

A NOTW journalist telling the truth ?

Well, I suppose there is a first for everything I suppose !
I wish they'd let her rest in peace for the sake Of William and Harry.

How many of us would come up smelling of roses if we came under scrutiny all the time in the media?
Can I remind everybody that Clive Goodman, one of the people now on trial along with Brooks, has previous form in this area, having already been convicted in 2007 for, guess what.......phone hacking !
so because she is dead and a royal we shouldn't have any discussion about her for the sake of her children ? please !
Her children are well old enough to answer for themselves now. It sounds like the sort of thing she'd have done to get her own back - passed over an internal phone directory so the press could see the size of her husband's retinue.
The problem is you can slander the dead, neither they, obviously, or their family have recourse to the law.

This reporter may be telling the truth, but my problem with it is, if the NOTW has such a vigourous and honest defence, why has it taken so long to come out? It cannot because they wanted to protect her good name, and given they closed the paper on the back of the allegations, you would have got this in early to deflect the illegal charges coming their way.

Just back from shopping and have been reading all the comments. Some of the people whom she trusted have let her down very badly. She wasn't perfect, nobody is, but I think she wasn't treated very fairly. She's not here to defend herself and to keep dragging her name through the mud is just wrong.
This sort of thread will always attract mixed responses, butterbun - she was no saint herself. She was naive when she married Charles, and life's not all hearts and flowers. She trusted people that more wordly people wouldn't have confided in. No point in digging it all up again now.

Its the NOTW trial that's digging it all up boxtops. I agree with the last comment by mikey4444.
If there are any fans of Di on the jury this traducing of her won't go down well.
I wish she was still with us, she'd be such a proud grannie wouldn't she ?
Question Author
She'd make a marvellous, adoring grannie.
I don't suppose Heather Mills is a big fan of Diana and her funny little ways:

/Then on Aug. 8, 1993, while walking near London’s Kensington Gardens, her life was changed forever. As she crossed the street, a police motorcycle — responding to an alarm at Princess Diana’s apartments in Kensington Palace — hit Mills and severed her leg./
her dear sons must think:

well it looks as tho Mum really was a sl+g
and it would only e a matter of time before we had some levantine half-brothers to grow up with
Cupid: How many of us would come up smelling of roses if we came under scrutiny all the time in the media?

So Cupid you have been can-noodling with a levantine play boy, and that would be after the Rugby player ( married ) and the army officer
Oh and the doctor aaand the antiques dealer

you naughty, busy girl !
Jeez zeuhl that's below the belt.
I've always thought that the original villain was her father who was determined to get one of his daughters into Charles' bed. The late POW is a subject upon which everyone will never agree but why assume that any negative comment, such as the one in the trial, is automatcally wrong?
Why shouldn't she, pp? They were separated by then.
It's OK to speak ill of some dead though isn't it, i.e. Margaret Thatcher.
