One Of Those Phone Calls.

Realised I hadn't had a card from an old friend who never misses. She phoned me in April and we had a long chat. Looked in address book, no phone number, she had given me her new address but no phone number. Went on line to a number finder thingy, no trace of her but did give someone else in the area with same surname. She has a son with that initial. I phoned him tonight, she died in July. They had traced as many people as they could but couldn't find her address book.
So sad I would have loved to have paid my respects at her funeral.
Second time I have had to make one of those calls and it doesn't get any easier.

same happened me last year caran, I looked up a friend on Facebook, an old work colleague I liked, found she had passed away 2 years before and had a young family. it's sad

Yes ducksie, very sad, I don't do Facebook so had to go the old way.

I meant to say Caran, I couldn't find her on facebook, but kept googling and found her on an old newspaper archive, I'd long since lost her phone number and was sure, being of my age she would be on facebook. She had died abroad and repatriated to her old village. I often think should I contact her family and say something, but decided better not

At least you know what happened to her ducksie, probably not serve any purpose contacting family as would revive sad feelings.

My estranged FIL is still sending cards to my mother and father. My mother died nearly four years ago and my father has recently remarried and moved house. Don't fret about it, you weren't to know.

that's what I thought Caran, like you I just had an overwhelming feeling to pay my respects and tell them what a great friend she was in our day..best left unsaid/
