It had to be surely ?
Sentencing in January hope it is a long one for them both. How harrowing that had to be for his family and friends.

Great result, not sure how it could have been any different. Life sentences should be just that, for the rest of their lives. Lets hope the sentencing is appropriate too. I'm glad that at least this part is over for the Rigsby family.

please stop saying we, our governments have made these incredibly stupid decisions, i don't want our soldiers to be in Afghanistan, Iraq under any circumstances, why get them killed for something that no one understands, to stop the poppy trade, or democracy or a million other reasons, its not our business, let them be, not our fight and never was, if they want to kill one another let them
hc, me too, that would have made their martyrs, i would rather they die in prison as old old men.
Jake, //The eyewitness accounts I'd heard the day it happened recounted no aggressive actions towards the police - that ran quite counter to the police accounts. It just didn't fit the facts //

Here are the facts!

Emmie, both these men are converts.
I'd rather they die in prison as young men. Save £1,000's.
Can anyone tell me why their pleas were not guily? Sorry if it's been asked before.
If they are given a 'whole life' tariff would they have grounds for recourse to the ECHR?
16 12 Beeb Cressida Dick late of Jean Charles Menendez said :
- the murder shocked us all......we carried out a lengthy investigation assisted by the security services....

the same ones who dawdled so much over the investigation of British complicity in the torture of detainees...

ho hum the circus continues whilst the troopers die....

Kathyan, because they claimed they were soldiers of Allah, and they killed in an act of war.
i knew the first was, also that he had gone to somalia, and was stopped there? these two should rot in jail.
They didn't consider what they did to be a crime, rather they saw it as an act of war. If they had entered a guilty plea they wouldn't have been able to make their speeches.
Kathyan - "Can anyone tell me why their pleas were not guily? Sorry if it's been asked before."

Probably on a 'nothing to lose' basis. They were probably advised that they would be found guilty, but the legal process does give the right of any accused to plead against the charge, whatever the circumstances.

Our laws exist and operate because everyone is given a fair chance of justice, even though we may not always approve.

exactly what Naomi says, per my thread a week ago. Soldiers of Allah, and were right in their actions, according to one. praised by Anjem Choudary - who can expound all he likes, but wouldn't do the decent thing and go an fight for the things he believes in, which makes him a traitor to Britain and a coward.
Kathy - yes it has but so what ?

Not guilty is a form of words meaning 'prove every aspect of the guilt that I did it.'

If they pleaded guilty - altho theoretically they get shorter sentences - then there is no chance to play-act their version.

A supplementary is: if they plead not guilty and are found guilty, can you then screw them for perjury ? and the answer to that I am sure you can see is.... no

also ... they pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to murder
and were found not guilty - so they had a point quite honestly.

The judge in summing up said - there was no preplannin- they just went out and did it

and this rather screws the crown case for conspiracy....
Doesn't look that persuasive to me

More to the point the jury clearly agreed with me!
How can anyone defend them or any who are similar to them after viewing these tear jerking pictures. May I join the parents and family of Lee Rigby and hope that out of this evil some good will come, and that this will hopefully unite this country in the fight against such savages as these that we now see amongst us.

there was pre-planning according to one, they targeted the man because of what he was wearing, they knew he was a soldier, or believed him to be,
they rammed him into the wall by car, got out and then hacked him to pieces, planned in so far they went out and targeted a soldier. They went out with the intention of killing a soldier and succeeded.
read this, one of the men's brother has said there will be more killings like this

/// We must all stand up to ensure the murderers aim of sowing division and hate in our British society is not realised. ///

Words come so easy, now let us hope that some action from our Muslim community is now taken, because we have seen very little action so far.

A start would be for some to denounce their religion, because I am sure that I wouldn't want to be associated with a religion that has seen so much evil take place on it's behalf.
