I remember some of the band who were 5 and a half feet tall yet managed ok on parade. Aren't a lot of Regimental Bands made up of a percentage of female recruits these days? They seem to have managed ok thus far!
Or can we now expect a lot more claims in the next couple of years?
does this mean that there will be a flood of claims from all the men with little legs?

You are aware I am sure that there are anatomical differences in the pubic region between males and females, and that it is not height which is the key issue here ?
If that picture shows actual marching then I despair for the poor little devils. I don't believe it (as Victor Meldrew would have said). Also I know I am very old but I have always been a great advocate of equality and tried to be modern about it. My idea was that women were equal but different and the difference should be noted in any activity. I also think that the one area in which men are likely (not always) to be better than women is in physical strength. This is why it often happens when the two are working together the man will try to protect the woman. I think it is an automatic response - but I expect someone will prove me wrong. I suppose that I am saying women should not be expected to do the same, physically, as men. However, if women choose to join the armed forces they should do so being fully aware of what it entails and having to accept it in all its forms.
// There should be no separate rules!!!!!!!!!!!! //

Men and women have physical differences. It is idiotic to ask a woman to stride at a greater distance than is natural. The constant overstretching over many weeks Is causing physical damage and is pointless when a group can quite reasonably drill just as well on a shorter stride

There are not separate rules. The rule is that women stride at no more than 27 inches. If women are in a mixed group, they stride at 27 inches and go at the front to make sure the stride does not widen.

It is a very simple rule which the RAF broke. It does not mean women should not be in the RAF or that they march separately. It means they march at a 27 inch or less stride.

AOG, when were you in the RAF? I served in the sixties and they were marching together then.
That picture is highly suspicious, the two women marching in the middle of the photograph are officers, who do not march among the other ranks. They would be at the front, rear or to the side, never in the main echelon.

Can we now expect every AircraftWomen erk in the RAF who has ever marched to also receive the same compensation?
No. Talk about hyperbolic assertions.

Did the RAF obey their own guidance and rules? No. Did these particular women suffer pubic stress fractures in consequence? Yes. Should they be compensated? Yes. Is this issue a UK only issue? No. Would accomodating the difference in stride patterns make any practical difference? None whatsoever.

This could be a discussion about the compensation culture - you and the DM have chosen to make it a sexual equality one, which is a shame.
// When I was in the RAF, men and women did not march together. //

Is that when you were in World War II?
I would have thought that wearing a skirt was outdated and could possibly restrict the length of stride. I have to admit that I never considered that there was any marching in the RAF.

Have you never seen the RAF march? Yes I know in the video they are in fact the RAF regiment but you get the idea.

AOG

I fear you have inadvertantly posted some kind of gay carnival padgent. I saw a group of come dancing wannabees struting to a Bee Gees tune.

Shome Mishtake Shurely.
"Tracie Davies, who is 5ft 4in, was surprised to find herself marching alongside male recruits"

does she understand what the word equality means ?

lucky they didnt ask her to do anything else that the men do

like i said in aother post just shows where our priorites are
girls family has to beg to get around £40k for operation so she can walk...and these three get £100k each

absolute joke

Baz, i think you're confusing "equal" with "identical"
Its only public money. Plenty to go around.
