shall we wait and see what the court has to say before judging them?
//As the brawl carried on down the street, it left blood splattered along half a block until the officer pulled out a knife and slashed one of his attackers//

More to this than meets the eye I think.

///officer pulled out a knife and slashed/// . . . Is he going to be charged with assault, or maybe 'carrying a concealed weapon' or whatever the US equivalent is?

from the daily record

SIX Scots-based soldiers accused of battering a New York policeman claim he called one of them a “black b******”.

It’s claimed the off-duty officer pulled a knife and slashed one of the soldiers from the 1st Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
'Are these soldiers a disgrace to the British Army'?

No.

At the moment, they have only been acccused, not convic..

AOG - out of interest...have you ever sat on a jury?

By the inferred guilty verdict already passed on these soldiers, can I retort with:

Is the officer a disgrace to the NYPD?

Soldiers in a Bar Brawl?

Shock horror hold the presses

And still 'call-me-Dave' is going to change the law so landlords can't refuse them entrance

If he was a representative of our country then one could make that accusation, but since he is not, then it is not for us to say.

And what can possibly be wrong with that, do not civilians also cause mayhem on most weekend nights?

Technically that is correct, but one doesn't need a court of law to accuse a wrongdoer if caught in the act.

EG, do you really think that monster who recently chopped the head off that young soldier, is innocent?

Fine - if you caught them in the act. Did you?

Soldiers brawling in any situation is unacceptable but a fact of life, soldiers brawling overseas and involving a host is a disgrace.

The Armed Forces take these incidents seriously and each one judged on its merits.
If he was a representative of our country then one could make that accusation, but since he is not, then it is not for us to say.
----------------------------------
In that case, I'll presume they're innocent and have in fact restrained themselves to only committing a minor assault in the face of severe provocation by an officer of the law (albiet off duty) who not only verbally abused them but subsequently attacked them with a bladed weapon and have in fact acted in the finest traditions of the British Army in standing up to tyranny and abuse of power.

Dress it up how you like AOG, be best to await the verdict of a judge/jury in the wake of a thorough investigation.

Yes we do.

Because in this instance, there is no video evidence.
I've just realised the subtext to this thread!!!
