It seems they did know what they were doing.

Can't say I'm surprised.
Although it's still being reported on the BBC that they were forced at gun point.
Nor me. Stupid girls!
Also lets face it they don't look the type to backpack, the nornirish was is far too high maintenance for a start!
I can't imagine how 'forced at gunpoint' would work. It can't be easy hold someone at the point of a gun whilst travelling through international airports.

made to carry these packages, said they didn't know what they were carrying, can't see how that works. Isn't there some discrepancy as to days they went missing?
I think if I was looking down the wrong end of twenty-five years in jail for something I had been stupid enough to do, I would think that owning up was not a great idea.

So, I would make up any story from 'gunpoint' to metal objects inserted by aliens - anything to make it look as though it wasn't my fault.

Although - as pointed out, the 'gunpoint' idea does not stand up to even the slightest scrutiny, I'd try and think of something better than that - threats to loved ones would have more legs than the gun scenario - but it's a bit late to change horses in midstream.
their loved ones live in UK don't they, if they were threatened in any way wouldn't you tell the police. did anyone see those British who have been jailed for carrying drugs over seas, message of don't do it, and seeing the penalties that can come with running drugs.
It doesn't take the Brain of Britain to know that carrying drugs is wrong!
Their side of the story seems one that would be easily picked apart. For example, how much money did they have available when they arrived in Peru? I'd guess backpackers would want a couple of thousand, at least, to be able to enjoy their travels.
two stupid girls out to make a few quid, who knows how long they could serve in prison if convicted.
25 year emmie
