Think that supporting gay marriage makes him cool and hip, appealing to the young? It is really weird! I would have thought getting young people into work would be better.
Then again, public schools have the fag system, so perhaps he does!

i don't think that was the reason, but would suggest it could have waited, as there are much more pressing matters that need attention.
Who knows? He changes his mind so often and goes with the wind!
This country is going to hell in a handcart and it annoys the life out of me that he can is focusing so much attention on such an irrelevant matter
There will always be more pressing matters. Does this mean we should dismiss the less pressing matters and never make changes?
Really disappointed in him. I agree the state of the country needs sorting out as main priority.
no it doesn't, but i think the economy which is flat lining, should be head of the queue, this has taken up so much time, that it could have been put back for a bit, whilst these other matters are dealt with.

He must think that the young will find the economy boring! It's the 'I'm hip, call me Dave" thing. Like. Dad dancing at a wedding!!
"i think the economy which is flat lining, should be head of the queue"

Erm... it has been? For the last couple of years? They can't keep fiddling, they have to set a course and see if it works. A fiddling government makes for nervous markets.

They have no magic wand to sort that problem (because no one wants to talk about the real problem: pensions and housing prices).

They do have a magic wand to fix this problem of inequality - so why not let them wave it?

This thread has echoes of when Lords reform was on the cards (something I believe would be for the betterment of the country generally). Is this tone of "they could be spending their time better, rather than changing things" just because you're all natural small-c conservatives? Or because you don't want gays to get married?

If it is the latter (which I don't expect to be honest) then you might want to make your reasons known here: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question1244456.html
Oh, and to answer the question:

"Does David Cameron think that supporting gay marriage makes him cool and hip, appealing to the young?"

No. He probably thinks it's the right thing to do.

I have nothing against gay people getting married, just the position of religious establishments in this as I did post under that heading. Most heterosexuals don't bother these days, so perhaps it will bring in much needed revenue.
It is just that I find it embarrassing when DC goes on about being in tune with young Brits, he us trying too hard.
The best PM to do this was Harold Wilson in the 1960's with the I'm Backing Britain campaign. It tuned in to the Swinging Sixties' and engaged the young.
Shame us, I am hw in my own Swinging Sixties'lol!!!!!
I imagine that he thinks the UK is a grown-up enough society to accept this step towards full-equality.
There is always parliamentary time available for issues which affect the citizens/subjects of this country.
Do you imagine that Parliament restricted itself solely to War-matters from 1939 to 1945?

And are you really making a pun on the word 'fag'? How very 1970's of you.
Question Author
I thought that ;'fag' was short for 'faggot' and was a younger boy in public school, that was often physically and sexually abused while acting as a servant to an older boy. A blind eye was often turned by the school as it was believed it helped them cope with things in later life, but correct me if Iam wrong
Type Your Answer Here...What is the difference between gay marriage and a civil partnership?
Neti - One is a Civil Partnership and the other is a marriage.
The man's a buffoon.
I do not believe that DC on this issue at least, is trying to be hip and appeal to the youngsters.

And governments can and do and we should expect them to be able to focus on more than one thing at a time.

The only really embarassing attempt to specifically claim the "hip young and cool" vote by DC was that "hug a hoodie" thing prior to the last election - that was embarassing to everyone concerned, I think ;)
^ Nearly as embarrassing as Hague wearing a baseball cap and boasting about his capacity for beer.
@Sandy - oh yes, I had forgotten that :) Crimge-inducing...
LOL, yes sandy I'd forgotten about that, when Hague got down and dirty with the youth.
wot a bummer
