I don't normally venture into News but couldn't help but show my fellow AB people this article that I have just read.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-22428923

I was bemused by the absurdity of the situation - the world IS going crazy.

Yes, it sure is wolf.
Disgraceful.

What a bunch of idiots!
AOG's (UKIP) immigration policy is obviously working already.......
No reason why they could not have taken his toeprints.
Is it quite as daft as it sounds? If his "biometrics" were of poor quality (and it doesn't say why) then naturally he'd have needed to resupply some details.
Presumably it was too late for him to attend the conference, but it doesn't seem necessarily to be to do with the fact that he "couldn't supply fingerprints" as he says. Presumably they have ways of dealing with that eventuality othereise no one without fingers could ever have a visa
That would really have been putting their foot in it though...

Criminals have been convicted after toeprint identity.
Jim! *sigh*

(lol)

Rules is rules !

New Judge - you have been using that username for a long time now. Are you still new? Or are you an Old Judge?
lol @ Wolf
Be fair. Not sure aog (whom God preserve) objects to foreigners if they're 'armless
Is this a Doctor Strabismus of Utrecht reference, Fred? I don't believe I've read the Daily Express at any time in the past half century, so does it still have a Beachcomber column?
I think I've heard of a similar case with US immigration

I suspect the average immigration form gets about 1 minute scrutiny from someone who's already processed a couple of hundred in the morning already.

Perhaps rejects ought to be passed for a second look but there are probably so many of them.

All comes down to cost in the end
A properly designed form would have a box explaining the reason for non-compliance. These could easily be isolated and pased over for a rational decision by someone with the authority to make exceptions.
"processed a couple of hundred in the morning already."

but in the UK its more likely to be the thousands, judging by the continuous flood of immigrants we attract
Yes, Quizmonster, it was a reference to Beachcomber but the similarity of aog to Doctor Strabismus (Whom God Preserve) of Utrecht is only in the wish for a long life.

However, there may be characters from Beachcomber's column on this site. I fancy myself as Prodnose.

Mr Justice Cocklecarrot's hearings still appear in Private Eye. Richard Ingrams is a fan of Beachcomber and produced an anthology of J B Morton's work.

Beachcomber appears in the Express still. I, too, rarely read the paper but I can say that the present column does not achieve the satirical absurdity of Morton's writing.
Yes, reports of His Honour Justice Cocklecarrot's hearings do still occasionally make the pages of Private Eye. Usually appearing before him is Sir Hartley Redface, QC.
NJ, perhaps wolf should be assured that you will never be Old Judge, unlike Mr Justice Cocklecarrot, who must be about 140!
Rest assured Fred and Wolf.

I am not nearly as old as His Honour Justice Cocklecarrot and I'm not quite ready for the title "Old" just yet. I might fade into obscurity rather Like "New" Labour, but I'll still be there. I may be ready to change to "Not Quite So New Judge" in about ten years or so !! :-)
