As I am sure most on this site are aware I am no fan of liberal thinking, however on this one I have to agree with them.

The 'snoopers charter' was one step too far. Yes, I know monitoring has to go on, but it should be applied for from the courts, for a specific purpose and time. And should it reveal nothing at all should be destroyed.

After all, we never had all our mail opened and photocopied 'in the old days'

It didn't help May's cause that she refused to tell anyone how the data was collected. A request from a Conservative MP was ignored and the Information Commissioner has now ordered her to provide the information.

Not sure you are right ymb. I would have thought that MI5 and MI6 have intercepting all sorts of communications for years and years, under governments of both political hues.
I am tending to agree with you canary, although you are perhaps being a tad harsh.
