It looks like that Wizard Of Oz song might crack the top three this Sunday.

Perhaps supporters of Baroness Thatcher could start and equal and opposite Twitter/Facebook campaign for a song which they feel best summarises her?

Popular sentiment will propel a song to number one, off the back of a news story ('Candle In The Wind' and 'Killing In The Name' spring to mind).

What would Thatcher's (positive) song be?

Why should we drop ourselves to the lowest denominator?

Rise above it it is always the best course, just as you have to do with your kids when they behave like silly little children.

Remember 'Little things please little minds'

I can't let Maggie go?

How about this?

I agree with youngmafbog though. It would then become competitive and if the chosen song was outsold by the Witch is Dead it would satisfy the Thatcher haters even more. It's better to rise above it.
Personally i don't mind if the BBC plays it during the chart show, but i don't think it should make any comments. If it doesn't play it Radio 1 shouldn't comment either, other than to say "...that was Duke Dumont at number 4, at number 3 it's a new entry for Judy Garland, and staying at number two here's Pink with Give Me a Reason...
Anything by Iron Maiden?

No, to enter into a contest over it is childish
This on, courtesy of another Aber.
Thanks to her, my Dad never went down the pit again.

Morning Tilly- that's the same tune as Sometimes When we Touch (by Dan Hill I think). I wonder which came first?
Or my personal favorite.

Maybe not, Tilly- I've listened to yours again and it actually sounds more like around 5 other songs, too- Mississippi, Green Green Grass of home, and a country song I can't name
I've just listened to both, factor. They are slightly similar. I couldn't listen to 'It's a working man......' all the way through. It makes me cry.

How about this.
I am not in a position to fully understand but I was quite surprised to here ex pitmen say on TV that they missed the pit and the lifestyle and "Maggie took it away" I could understand if they had talked about unemployment and that kind of problem, but to miss the actual work????
I expect there was great comeradeship in the mines, woofgang
