I've lost my crystal ball, so sorry but can't answer this one.
A quote from them...

"Not only is there stereotyping around 'the female director', but we also have to contend with the Western media stereotype of the Arab female. But none of these films deliver what you expect."

Why should they be under threat and from whom?
I am sure there are plenty in this country that would like to, especially those on our generous welfare system.

Wasn't a muslim girl recently shot in the head for reading a book or something? I was under the impression that Islam is not a big fan of women doing any sort of gainful activity.
In her case probably more to do with her criticism of the regime but you are right. In the Islamist world women are second to men and should know their place. I don't suppose they will be happy with the way the girls are dolled up Western style either.

Of course, this sort of thing alwasy has the right-on brigade in a quandry. Do they defend the 'minority' Islamist nutters or the women's rights?
Interesting........from what i have read in the article, these are Arab women making their mark in society outside of Saudi Arabia in the U.A E.
I do not think that they would have had that media license in the K.S.A.

How long before these girls are attacked?......I feel that they are pretty safe (pun intended)
Yes.

All Muslims are the same...

In all Muslim countries.

No women are allowed to vote, wear trousers, smoke or have an opinion.

Or...perhaps...that's...not...true...

...as these women clearly prove?
What a very odd viewpoint!

There is plenty of emancipation in Arab countries, and it is increasing, as the feature is at pains to underline several times in its detail.

Is there a possiblility that these women (and they are women not 'girls') may fall foul of extremists? Of course, but that is a risk that every Westerner takes daily by simply existing.

You cannot live your life under threat - that allows terrorism to win, so maybe we should do as they do - applaud the emancipation that allows these women to forward their careers and visions, and avoid worrying about an extrremly small minority of sub-human scum who would have us all worship under theit twisted interperetatrions of a peaceful religion.

Exactly how many Islamist countries have you seen first hand to inform your opinion on their cultural attidudes?

I agree with Andy-Hughes.

I congratulate the young ladies and applaud their endeavour, I just fear for them that's all. There are many examples of all sorts of horrific attacks on women that in some way have "dishonoured" the "peaceful religion".
