/// AOG, you asked what redress a white family would have in the same circumstances. Would a white family not be able to complain, and be taken seriously? ///

Yes but they defiantly wouldn't have grounds on which to sue, as in this family's case.

I can't make sense of that statement.

Then I will only be too pleased to explain.

They would not be able to sue Disneyland on the grounds of racism, ie "Play the Race Card".
ah, so you meant 'definitely'?

/// I can't make sense of that statement. ///

And we can all make sense of these can't we, my misspelling was down to the spell-checker, what's your excuse?

/// If You're Doing Nowt Atm Bbc2 ///

/// Unusual Incident At The Swanceeee/chelski Match ///
But the family is black. Donald Duck appears to have favoured white children over black it's disgusting the children are innocent.
Walt Disney was a racist, so maybe Donald is too. Who knows???

It looks like Disney are in a no win situation. If they start sacking people for 'alleged' racism, they will most probably get sued by those they sack.

Wassup AOG?

one too many e's in Swanceeee?

Totally different and you know it, i'm sure if you had trawled through my posts more thoroughly no doubt you would have found genuine spelling errors.

LOL anyway.

To which I will take the opportunity to re-enter a previous ABer's question.

/// but how do they know the person in the costume isn't
black? ///

To which no one so far has provided an answer.
Sexist too apparently.
If this is a racist incident Donald must be ignoring a whole lot of people. It's hardly unusual to see black families at Disneyland. Only recently on a trip there my white nieces waited in vain for Cinderella to speak to them. Maybe she just doesn’t like kids.
aog, of course a white family could sue Disney , or anyone else, using what you are pleased to call 'the race card'. It is a little odd that a gentleman, as you are, is so swift to dismiss any and every complaint of racial discrimination at a stroke, by using such a derisive expression.

The question is one of evidence. It is unlikely that Disney is going to discriminate against whites and unlikely to employ anyone who does and it is unlikely that anyone who was prejudiced against whites would seek such employment.

Did you used to say that any Jew who objected to Jews not being allowed membership of certain golf clubs was playing the Jew card or the religion card? Or did complaints of anti-Semitism not attract your scorn?

AOG, did you not consider that had Donald Duck been black underneath that Disney would have used this dfence straight away?
I think these people are on the make – and no doubt, if they succeed, the lawyer who is working for both complaining families will make a few bob too! It stinks!
Why does everybody keep going on about Donald Duck......He isn't real, IF anybody was racist, it was whoever was inside the suit, Male or Female , whoever they were..........Are they even sure that it was the SAME person all the time, the Character roles in the suits are usually covered by many different people during the day.

/// aog, of course a white family could sue Disney , or anyone else, using what you are pleased to call 'the race card'. ///

I was not taking 'generally' I was referring to this particular incident, for example say a white family's child was ignored by a person dressed up in a Donald Duck outfit, do you really think that they could sue Disney Land on racial grounds, simply because their child happened to be white?

/// The question is one of evidence. It is unlikely that Disney is going to discriminate against whites and unlikely to employ anyone who does and it is unlikely that anyone who was prejudiced against whites would seek such employment. ///

And how pray do you know all this for certain?

/// Did you used to say that any Jew who objected to Jews not being allowed membership of certain golf clubs was playing the Jew card or the religion card? ///

I can never ever remember saying such a thing, neither am I aware of any Jew not being allowed membership of any golf club, merely on grounds of their religion.

Since a large proportion of Jews are generally very wealthy Business men, and a large amount of business is carried out on the golf course, I can see no reason why a golf club would possibly refuse them membership.

/// Or did complaints of anti-Semitism not attract your scorn? ///

Complaints of anti-Semitism are not as widely issued as complaints of anti-racism seem to be.

/// Now what is that saying? ///

/// 'A bad workman blames his tools'? ///

Well I don't know if the 'bad workman' reference is at all correct, 'bad speller' maybe, hence the need for a spell checker.

If these families are successful in their claims, one readers comment made a very interesting point.

/// This will ruin it for everyone. Now ,instead of hugs for ALL it will bexome hugs for NONE.The characters will in future be in their own enclosure, out of reach.Well done. ///
