Do you think that Jim Davidson has a point:

"Everyone is now an expert. Just pick someone you don’t like and say it’s them. So I’ll be the first one to knock it on the head and belt up. How’s about that then?”

No proof of any of this in JD's case

That's an extraordinary statement, AYG.

Just how much of the evidence have you seen?
BBC News has just said that the JD arrest is nothing to do with the Savile enquiry.
I would like to know, if these women are now accusing these men of certain sexual assaults allegedly committed years ago, how do they hope to prove anything now?

Also up to now only certain less popular celebrities have been arrested and released on bail, while others such as Savile are now dead.

So the question I ask is "what if a very popular icon of the music world, (and there must be many who have had the opportunity in the past) was also accused of committing such misdemeanours, can anyone imagine one of them facing charges, or would they be covered up, just as savile's were?
jno how much evidence has anyone seen of any of this? How much evidence did they have to pick up Rolf Harris, to seem him devastated by the accusations. A lot of people are being hurt. The two 25 year old women have decided to come forward now, how many years ago did these events happen? why didn't they say something then? They were certainly old enough to realise what they were heading for, JD would most likely have his reputation for the ladies then. It is not an extraordinary to suppose they are seeking to gain something for what they may well have consented to.

If they didn't, are the Police going to arrest him now for his word against theirs? Popular TV stars had their followers, screaming women groupies who would do anything to get near them. We are not talking about the young 14/16 year olds now. These were grown women who could have made themselves heard. They should have reported it then, not now. If they did report it there should be some record of it somewhere and the Police would be to blame for not following it up.
I haven't been following this closely, but has any of the accused made a claim against any of these 'victims' for slander? And if their claim was upheld, and assuming the accuser had no money, would the accusers be elligible for a custodial sentence?

/// So, you were raped, you didnt say anything and now you are time barred against doing anything about it? ///

Short of witnesses or other positive evidence, how would one be able to prove she had been raped after all these years?
How can you prove rape the same day?
You may be able to prove intercourse took place but it is very difficult to prove rape.
AYG, you have no idea what evidence there is or isn't. You don't know whether it was reported at the time or not. You have no idea whether Rolf Harris was devastated or not. You're just repeating what the accused have said, with no idea of what the case against any of these people is.

How about waiting until you have both sides of the story?

jno, it's been widely reported in the press that Rolf Harris has been in the Priory suffering from severe stress and suicidal tendencies because of the Yewtree arrest.

With your reasoning you could say that you lost a £20 note in a certain shop years ago, then expect to be able to prove it.

He had sex with a couple of women in their mid 20s in the 80s. Sounds suspiciously like a threesome to me!

Definitely bandwagon jumping - and even if (and it is a very fat if) there was any substance to the allegation, it is utterly unprovable and a complete waste of everybody's time.

People want it to be true because of who it is, which is a very petty, small minded point of view to take.

If the grown women he is alleged to have abused over a quarter of a century ago were that upset by their ordeal, why not accuse him when it happened?
hc, yes, but where exactly do those stories come from?
According to todays papers and the news, JD's alleged assaults took place twenty five years ago , when the women involved were in their mid twenties. They weren't children, if it upset them so much, why didn't they complain at the time, and not just jump on the bandwagon now when the words compensation are being bandied around every time you open a newspaper.
