We have a lovely 86 year old neighbour. She rang up about half hour ago all of a dither because she had a leak behind her toilet.
I went into her flat and discovered that because her toilet is on an inside wall, the overflow from the cistern just goes down the back of the toilet and onto the floor.
The ball valve was stuck causing the cistern to overflow and flood the bathroom.
It was just as well she discovered it when she did or she could have woken up in the morning with a flooded flat.
What a stupid system.

She doesn't have a bath as it happens. Because she is disabled she has a walk-in shower and the waste is built into the floor but the water only goes away when she has a shower and she turns a motor on to pump the waste away, so even that would not have got rid of the flood because the pump was not on.
