Sentenced to just 150 hours of unpaid work.

'UNPAID'??????????

Since he got away with £30,000 of taxpayers money, didn't he get paid £200 per hour?

/// Havering council said it would pursue them both for the return of the money they stole. ///

Don't hold your breath.

I suppose it would have cost a lot more than another £30000 to put him in prison for a year.
What punishment do you think he should get, AOG?
I hope they can recover some money but if it's gone it's gone.
They will chase them for the return of the money.
I certainly hope they chase him up and get him to repay what he stole.Does seem a rather light sentence for fraud and abuse of position though.....
Not an unusual crime or sentence.

What do you think should have happened
Should send him to Monaco or Las Vegas.....

probably 1st offence so not surprising.
Well, given that some MPs for instance have been jailed for expenses fraud, 150 hours unpaid community service seems a little light to me.

Exactly LG that is just what I was going to put, after reading some of these answers.

I seem to remember at the time of the MP expenses fiasco, most on AB were crying out for those MP's blood, I wonder why the change of heart over this case now?
In many cases joe bloggs goes to jail over benefit fraud, why haven't they.
If you can jail an MP for expenses fraud, then surely this should have resulted in custodial sentences,
any assets they have should be seized to repay the money.
