Any news from your brother in LI? Been watching the news, and things are getting pretty tense out there.

Hi stewey...I heard from him last at 10pm NY time last night.I've just emailed him...hopefully I'll have a reply. Saw a live report on the news a little while ago...it looked nasty.
Thanks for asking....I'll post here with any news.
My youngest sis is out there, on a girls' shopping trip, staying in the Marriott just off Times Square. They have moved them down a few floors (now under 30). She was heading to the bar last I heard.....she has been in Andrew and Wilma so has experience.

Don't think she will be flying back tomorrow night....
cutting up rough, so hope all stays well pasta, keep us posted x
I've been wondering too, pasta.

Heard on the news tonight that some local youngsters on a school trip are stranded out there. School trips weren't like that in my day!
pasta - this site is brilliant and gives the best information, no emotion of what the news channels go for - used by the military and the Oil industry and I have found them to be the most accurate over the years.

am giving you the page for Sandy - if your bro has never come across this, e-mail him the site......(saved me twice from exiting Houston).....

My friend and her husband and son are in NY and can see the collapsed crane from outside of their hotel room. Must be very scary for everyone.
I heard that it is a combination of several storms...hurricane,arctic..and another I think....and the worst since one in 1960.....which I hate to say I remember.
worth the "casual" observer looking at crown weather too - scroll down the page for the maps!

haven't heard about the crane coming down......any injuries?
Thanks DT...I'll have a look at that.
I remember thinking hurricanes were exciting as a kid....I guess they were.
Hard looking at it from this side of the pond.... ;-(
It's been on Sky news - http://news.sky.com/

My friend posted a picture on FB and they were virtually the only people out and about.
I hope they are not near the water,sherrardk...they'll get swept away!
