His letters to ministers are not to be revealed because their contents, 'particularly frank' and revealing his most deeply held personal views and beliefs, 'would potentially have undermined [his] position of political neutrality'.

Why would that make him a leftie? We don't know what he said.

He wanted to join the Labour Party when a student at Cambridge. Over the years he must have found all the sycophancy that surrounds him cloying. It must have driven him to the left.
more likely to be a closet loony
I don't see why that would be a problem
Gorgeous new avatar, bib.
Why would that make him a lefty?

Well we all know his views are left leaning anyway so these must be even worse.

He should not be trying to use his position to influence. The letters should be published so we know what he is up to.
Why hand wringing ?
The letters cover a seven month period between 2004 and 2005. Interesting. Anyone want to hazard a guess what they may be about? wars in Iraq/ Afghanistan perhaps?

JJ, there are some here in AB, no names, no pack drill, who can not mention anyone connected to the left without using the sobriquet, 'hand wringing'. Don't know why.
/// I'm wondering how many more of THE PRINCE'S WACKY OPINIONS are nestling in files and drawers all over Whitehall. The fact that even a tiny fraction of this correspondence is deemed too controversial to be released speaks volumes about the problems THIS BUSYBODY ROYAL has created for ministers. ///

/// but the people who aren't allowed to know are the very ones that THIS VAIN AND FOOLISH MAN intends to rule. ///

"THE PRINCE'S WACKY OPINIONS"

"THIS BUSYBODY ROYAL"

"THIS VAIN AND FOOLISH MAN"

Such abusive and disrespectful language such as this, could only come from the the 'Nasty Left's' press.

And knowing that the 'Left' are not one's to call or criticise their own, must mean that Prince Charles could never be A HAND-WRINGING LEFTIE, closeted or otherwise.
AOG exposes an inherent contradiction in the argument ...
I don't think he's a lefty. He's more of a woolly liberal. There's a difference.
I would never have thought of Charles as a lefty, closet or otherwise. It is alleged that he has been able to exercise considerable, undue influence within Government on issues he cares about - architecture and complementary medicine come to mind - byu virtue of his position, and the Govt have effectively given him immunity from the Freedom of Information act for all correspondence from 2010. This particular action relates to correspondence before that date, but still the govt has stepped in, despite a court ruling saying such correspondence should be available.

I think that is wrong, myself. We will have to wait now on the outcome of the Guardian taking the Govt to court....
seeing as one day he will be King perhaps the palace thought it best to keep it quiet. The Queen never puts over her own views, and someone only let the cat out of the bag inadvertently when she expressed the opinion on Abu Hamza.
