Ty for your comment on my "sermon" - later maybe "sermons" after my Part 2, lol. Understood and service ended - please don't forget to drop money in the begging tray! .
You make an excellent chairperson in this debate in trying to keep us rabble in order and stick to the point - great challenge on AB - well tied Sir. Well done!

Anyway where were The Windsors?
Thats what we pay them forand there is enough of them
I agree with Evian. The booers may have a point - but what a pity to put a dampener on what has been - and still is - a fantastic event. Those venues should be ringing with cheers - and only cheers.
No matter which party (for the most part), I always feel sorry for politicians who are publicly embarrassed.

I've only recently stopped cringeing for John Redwood...

Naomi - seems that you may not have viewed the clip. The booing was instant at the mention of Osborne's name. Then it died away. During the actual award of medals each athlete was applauded and cheered.

EB - you are right.A medal ceremony is not about the person handing out medals. So why bring such a controversial individual into the arena. He himself admitted his unpopularity. And Cameron was treated similarly to boos and jeers.

Strange that eccentric Boris Johnson was accepted warmly by the crowd. But then he is not one of the Dandy Boys is he?

John Redwood - what a plank!
//another political statement made by the olympics/paralympics organisors. //

Are the organisers non tory sympathisers , then ?
Redwood might be a plank - but he is a vulcan plank! :)
I think it's a seize the day scenario. Most people will never be in George Osbourne's presence again, so have to choose between whether to make their displeasure known or stay quiet and be polite. Clearly they all felt it was important enough to choose to boo as I would have too.He clearly had no idea of the level of discontent, hopefully he does now.

Is Osborne likely to go home tonight with a feeling of job satisfaction?
> Did he expect cheers?

I doubt it!

Even at the best of times, 60% of the crowd would not be in favour of him. So boos are not unexpected.

I think Cameron, as the PM and as the father of a disabled child, was a good choice for somebody to hand out a Paralympic medal. Osborne was a poor choice, especially in the current climate, and it was unwise of him to accept.
John Redwood could have bluffed his way through it by just moving his lips .
His mistake was to sway his head from side to side and looking to his left at the person standing next to him - that's what drew the attention to him .
sir.prize. I read the link.

you mean the organisers that let Danny Boyle promote his brand of left wing politics during parts of the opening ceremony... look up his history
Sheer bad manners, totally the wrong time and place. But what do you expect from lefties.

Milliband must be very proud of his supporters.

As for Brown got no boos, people have very short memories. It is his failings and excesses that have caused a lot of our pain. If he had not tried to use disability as a way of manipulating the unemployment figures then we would not be in that mess now.
I'm not that interested in Danny Boyle to be frank .

I simply asked a question without any particular political point being made - a simple yes or no would have sufficed .
This was totally rude and offensive behaviour - all these people booing seem to forget that the cause of the problems was the idiot Brown and his inept cronies who mis-governed us for so long. Face it you cretins - someone has now to pay for the labour mis-rule.
//Milliband must be very proud of his supporters.//

So , all the people booing , were supporters of Milliband ?
I've no idea who thought it would be a good idea for him to do it but I'd have hoped the crowd would be mature enough to consider the athletes he was presenting medals to and not their own political greivances.
So , any one who dont agree with your opinion is a ' cretin ' ?
it wasn't disrespectful t the medallist at all. It was disrespectful to Osborne (and the people who thought inviting him to present medals would be a good idea). As Osborne doesn't respect me very much at all, I have no problems with this.
