It seems to be norm in this country to turn against the government pretty soon after they have been elected, and it not seen as 'cool' to admit to having voted for them or to support them.
I suppose our voting system doesn't help since the elected government always gets less than half the votes.
I don't think this happens to the same extent to people like Obama in the States

Why are politicians handing out medals anyway? Mostly so they can bask in the reflected glory of the success of the athletes, and garner publicity from the event itself.

Given the nature of the event, the paralympics, and the whole issue of disability living benefits,it is entirely unsurprising that Osborne was booed.Cameron got a mixed response when he met Elly Simmonds.I fail to see how hearing a group of people at the sharp end of some of this Governments cuts voicing their disapproval at one of the main architects of these cuts can be seen as "making us look stupid".
