Shouldn't their superior officers have told them there were sensibilities about the Koran?

they should have, however they didn't or the soldiers knew and chose to do it anyway.
I wonder if the Taliban's senior officers would have told their men there were sensibilities about the Bible?
Question Author
I'm sure they treat all holy books with nothing but the utmost respect
They burn christian churches and all their contents sandy - they have complete contempt for any other religion.
so it would seem. ^^

Terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible post by you.

Please don't try to align a bunch of terrorists with the formal structure of coalition troops. They are fundamentalist, extremists, murderers.

To suggest that they can IN ANY WAY be equated to coalition troops is very, very, very wrong.

Eh, but wait a minute, fundamentalists, extremists, murders, how dare you, are they not 'Freedom Fighters'.
sp, I think we all know on AB that AOG would be the last person to equate our troops to the taliban, I took his answer that he would like a fair playing field with our troops where these terrorists are concerned - I saw nothing wrong in his reply.
Shouldn't the Afghans have been told that there are sensibilities about human life? after all about 30 died as a result of the riots.
Would bruning a book of different fairy stories have elicited a similar response?
ah but they don't believe it's fairy stories, but to be followed, adhered to and anyone who doesn't is an infidel
By "bruning" I mean applying a match and standing well back........
I'm not a big fan of the armed forces but this was not a deliberate insult they didn't know the books were Korans and it seems to me the outcome was right.

Certainly not in the same ball park as the soldiers urinating in the mouths of the corpses of dead fighters

I know there wouldn't have be any remorse from the WW2 Allied Troops if Hitler's Mein Kampf had been burnt.
Nor from much of the German people and therein lies the difference

We've stopped fighting WWII now - time to move on
or perhaps civilians like peace workers, having their heads lopped off after torture by the Taliban.
Well, this is nothing short of a whitewash is it not? I don't think The Taliban would have been so lenient.
Perhaps Islam’s educators should teach their pupils that others don’t necessarily hold the Koran in awe and that they can’t expect to be able to demand respect from everyone else, regardless of culture or creed, and get it. They need to learn not to be so sensitive. They live in a modern world now and can always print more.
Kerosene, the taliban are very lenient especially towards themselves..
AOG

The Taliban are NOT freedom fighters.

They are closer in set up to the Mafia or South American drugs lords.
