Why is it that some men suddenly get great looking status just because they are celebrities. Does not seem to happen with women celebreties. Plain looking men pull top birds only because of their status on TV and film. Who would give a second look at Chris Evans, Danny Baker, Alfie Moon,  that singer off Jamiroqui, The edge....list is endless.....if they were not stars on TV. anyone want to add to it??

Jamiroqui, The edge... Stars ??? If they were playing on my back lawn I would draw the curtains and turn the TV up!!

and the ultimate example of this has to be Mr Wayne Rooney who is actually fugly.  Fact.

One helluva an aphrodisiac power/fame/money, or so it seems.  Personally, I wouldn't touch Rooney, Evans or Richie with someone elses.

This is SOOO true and I could never understand why either. On top of that, why are all the really old blokes who used to be sex symbols when they were young still classed as such when they're just old blokes with all the sex appeal of a cowpat? Also, why are the beautiful women who date them/marry them seen as lovely people when there's no way they can fancy someone old enough to be their grandad?
They might all be nice people, (whats the joke? why are you laughing?)
As mrs Merton said to Debbie Mcgee 'So Debbie, what first attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?'
Although in response I give you,  Rene Zellwegger or however she spells her name, Britney Spears, Pamela Anderson, Jorden, Samantha Fox, Mrs Wayne Rooney, (Coleen is it?), Jennifer Anniston, etc etc, if you saw them serving at the deli counter in Tesco you wouldnt give any of them a second look.
Add Prince Charles to that list.  Back before he married Lady Diana, the press used to always describe him as "handsome."  I hate to be superficial, but he's about as handsome as a doorknob.
Impret-Sir - well said. I've no idea why Pamela Anderson, for example, is considered a sex symbol. OK, she may have an impressive pair of, erm, implants, but she has a mouth like a sink plunger and a face like the proverbial bulldog chewing a wasp.

Mind you, I probably would look twice at her if she was on the deli counter at Tesco's. "Blimey", I'd think, "that's Pamela Anderson on the deli counter at Tesco's. Oh well. 4 ounces of honey roast ham please Pammy, and try to keep your funbags out of the coleslaw, there's a love".
Sure, they may be some out for a quick buck but I really think a lot of this comes down to the fact that the majority of women dont go 100% for looks. I know loads of women who fancy unattractive blokes cos they are funny etc. Most women can see past the looks and will go for the personality, so its not that these famous men become attractive but women still fancy them for other reasons. I have always liked the stereotypical handsome man but after seeing Martin Freeman in interviews etc, I think hes lovely & hes not particularly good looking.
I'd like to add the repulsive Mick Hucknall....UGH! Just goes to show what fame & money can do for even the hardest slap in the face with the ugly stick!
