When applying to become a presenter of Top Gear, is being smug an essential requirement? I thought Clarkson was bab but I can't look at that annoying little one. Why do they all look so pleased with themselves?

Clarkson was bad even! I must read my q's before posting them!

You would feel that smug if you got to drive and play with the cars they do, also the amount of money they get paid!!..........But i agree, Richard Hammond does get a little too excited at times! Great Programme though!!Its a good Laugh!

I think the mini-me Clarkson is funny...tho probably nto in the way he'd like.

My BF is not in the least bit prone to smugness, but even he admits he'd be a total smug git if he had that job.   It would be all his Christmasses at once.

Top Gear - welcome back, it's fantastic to have something good to watch on a Sunday night (esp. now Huff has finished).

The little one is a great hit the ladies (and some men!) which is good in some ways as I'm only a short guy and I think he represents the young/shorter males of the world.

James hammond is the older distinguished gent of the three too.

I'm not so sure its becuse they get to drive cars all day. I've seen the little one, Clarkson and ex-Top Gear presenter Quentin Wilson all presenting other things and are equally smug. I do like TG but find this men really hard to watch, it like they have some little secret which they're not letting the viewer in on.

Also, i have nothing against small men, there are plenty of gorgeous shorter men (Tom Cruise springs to mind) but that TG guy is just way too much, height has nothing to do with it!

cockney_si - James May is the older guy, Richard Hammond is the mini-me Jezza.
Yeah I knew that, must have got my mind warped again while typing, used to know someone called James Hammond that's probably why....
