"thieves caught by the police"?

This is a positive story right? What's the EU got to do with it? I don't understand.
I also am a bit confused........unless the thieves being Romanian were representing the EU.......;-)
VHG, My son's business was robbed by 4 Romanian people and when he tried to stop them they drove their car at him, hit him and dragged him 20 yards down the road until he flew off the car, but in no way does that represent ALL Romanians, it would just have easily been English, Welsh, African, Scots people. get a grip, this isn't a EU thing, it's crime- huge difference.
"The men of Romanian origin, aged between 19 and 36, have been remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on 1 June."

I don't think this even says they're not English? Just that they may have a Romanian Grandfather?

Thanks for point it out to me Sqad, maybe that is what VHG meant.
I think you both know exactly what VHG is alluding to - had the EU not allowed a third world peasant country like Romania into the 'club', thus giving its people free movement, the strong liklihood is that these people would not have been here to commit these crimes in the first place.
flip_flop......ah! got it.
'Third world peasant country' ...nice.
Nice.....but true.
No, I missed it flip_flop! Also, it doesn't say they're Romanian? Just "of Origin"? I.e. they may be ethnically Romanian, but born in the UK (for example). It also doesn't say if they're a kind of crime tourist or someone who lives here. They're quite different, and I would be interested in more information - should there be any.
Romanian and Bugarian workers have strict limitations on their access to the UK.

They can be here as students or self-employed but they can't come here as workers
How about the illegals JTP.
"How about the illegals JTP."

But these chaps have been caught! So if they're here illegally then they'll be dealt with shortly I imagine.
We all wait with bated breath for the next crime to be committed by a black man, where no doubt we will be treated to the yawnsome, "So much for the benefits of immigration" thread, marching towards the News section, with ill-deserved confidence.
Charged for stealing cable....PMSL!

Apparently the police also caught some of them stealing fireworks but they let them off.

What do you mean?

If Romania is part of the EU, then Romanians have the same rights of movement that the British, French and German have.

What 'illegals' are you talking about?

Has someone moved the goalposts?

Are we even playing on the same pitch?
sp

\\\\We all wait with bated breath for the next crime to be committed by a black man\\\

Should be about in 30 mins, then half a dozen will arrive at the same time.
"Apparently the police also caught some of them stealing fireworks but they let them off."

Boo!
There's not enough background info in this story to make a judgement.

So it gives us all a lovely opportunity to flaunt our prejudices,

Long live Answerbank!!
Sqad

Perhaps...but they'll all be muggers...not child rapists eh?
Another point...why the hell would anyone steal railway cable?

Is there a black market for it???
