Another Olympic Torch Question

I believe each of the 8000 bearers will use a different torch.

In these days of austerity, might it not be a bit extravagant?

Surely they could have managed with one and a couple of spares.

Each torchbearer can buy the torch they have used so there has to be 8000, I would want mine if I had been a torchbearer
